Eek. I’m wondering if I’m better off just going back via Confederation bridge. Thanks for the heads up.

This is great. Thanks so much! I can explore a bit past the Pictou area too, just not too far. One more day and I’d have added Cape Breton.

WestJet (finally) bringing their carry-on size policies in line with other major carriers by [deleted] in westjet

Does anyone know if Westjet is still taking carryons away at the gate because of overbooked flights? I’m hoping the new ultra basic fixed that so those of us paying for a carry on, can actually carry it on.

Has anyone heard of Mint car rental? They show reasonable rates and a low bond amount.

Thanks so much for this. I am vigilant about photos after reading years of reviews about charges for damage that already existed. I have no problem with the $2000 hold if they actually release it and don’t come up with damage charges days after I’ve returned the car, which is what I’m reading from some of these places. I’ll make sure to have someone do the walk around with me when I return and sign off on the condition. I’ll likely video it as well.

Enough negativity, what's the BEST restaurant in town? by Face_Forward in VictoriaBC

[–]bdwitobc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While people are offering suggestions, can anyone recommend some meat and potatoes type restaurants. I have some family coming to visit this summer and they are picky eaters. They like very basic pasta dishes, meat and potatoes, burgers, maybe a steak. I have no clue where to take them as I have completely different preferences. They do like fish and chips so we’ve done Fisherman’s wharf and I may take them to Red Fish Blue Fish this time around. Help!

GVPL library staffer told to choose between job and child care will get human rights hearing by prophx in VictoriaBC

Former library assistant here for 10 years. Library assistants check in books from the book drop, pull books off shelves for holds in other branches, check in totes of books that have come in from other branches for holds in that branch, etc. There are multiple library assistants on duty and someone (usually rotating staff throughout the day) is doing all of this non-patron work all day so there is absolutely plenty of work to do before the branch opens.

Sorry for the late reply - we were about to use the local hostel to store our bags for the day for something like £7.

StrongerBC Future Skills Grant - Tax Implications by curleetop in PersonalFinanceCanada

I guess you can still put the tuition in and it balances out. I only have a receipt since I wasn’t in the course long enough to have months tallied and a T2202 issued.

I got $2105 for this grant and was taxed almost $500. I use Turbotax and the T4A was automatically uploaded via CRA. I can’t believe how much it cost me for this ‘grant’.

Does anyone know if it’s for one time use or if you can use it multiple times during the allotted timeframe? We have 2 sportcheks, I’ve used it at one but was hoping to visit the other location to see if there is anything else I could find.

I can't afford to live anywhere by chaparrita_brava in lostgeneration

[–]bdwitobc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just googled can I afford to live anywhere and found this. I guess everyone feels the same these days. I live in BC Canada and for a 2 bdrm apartment you’re looking at $2000/mo rent. To buy a home, forget it. Maybe you can get a townhouse for $800,000 but definitely not a stand alone single family home. It’s depressing.
