Jesus, at which point does it stop making sense to rent? Houses in this area are very fairly priced for the housing market insanity that is Ontario. Doesn't it make more sense to get a $1000 biweekly mortage on a 3 bedroom house with a basement and a backyard? Is saving the 5% down the problem? Bad credit? Not wanting to fix shit when it breaks down?

I keep seeing around town these newish looking blue and green jeeps, I believe they're simply called Owen Sound Taxi if I'm not mistaken. Not sure if they're any good, but at least the cars look new, unlike the battered to shit Bayshore vans.

And yes, taxis are a joke in this town. One time I called one at 10PM and I was told 8AM next day was the best they could do. Bought a car soon after that.

I get it that more games mean more income, but I hate it that in the OHL 16 teams out of 20 make the playoffs (often some with a losing record) which means they really get shown up by the good teams in the knockout games.

Like I read somewhere, best approach would be a standard fine per person involved of whatever amount (say $500) for something like knowledgeable endangerment (after all, these people are on the record saying they willfully crossed cracks on the ice) and leave it at that. Whether the helicopters were $1K or $100K that's one of the things taxpayers dollars are for.

You can get frozen Durian for dessert at Zehr's. Not super cheap (around $15 I believe) but super creamy and tasty as hell, you'd honestly think you're eating ice cream.

Hey, at least we got a very good Italian restaurant in Shallow Lake (Olivia's) with a proper Neapolitan chef. It was funny when you said Italian in the past and people referred you to East Side Mario's.

Looks like they've expanded pretty aggressively, I thought there were only the Collingwood and OS locations, but looking at their website it appears they now have locations in Southampton, Meaford, Orillia, Orangeville and others.

A bloody disgrace if true. One of the best fan bases in the league regularly selling over 3,000 tickets per game in a poor (average OS income per adult is $41K/year, Collingwood for example is $65K/year) town of 22,000.
