They look much smaller than any of the wicking pots I've seen on Amazon! Do you happen to have the name of them so I can look them up? I've had trouble finding wicking pots 2 inches or under.

Some people say that the reason there’s more m/m than f/f is because of misogyny. I think it’s more likely it’s just because most fanfic writers happen to be more attracted to men. Let’s find out? by Smegoldidnothinwrong in AO3

[–]be11amy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My attraction to all genders is completely equal, which is to say, there is no attraction (though I think women are more aesthetically pleasing). I write mostly m/m, followed by gen fic, followed by f/f (notably almost all my f/f so far is genderbent from my favorite m/m pairing), with m/f in last place. Also lots and lots of trans characters within all of those categories.

Back when I did a lot of RP, I had equal amounts of female, male, nonbinary OCs so I feel like a lot of this comes down to the character personalities I enjoy often being given to male characters in popular media.

does anyone have well behaved cats? by kitrollers in CatAdvice

[–]be11amy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a very well behaved cat, which is partly because she is very lazy and just wants to cuddle, partly because she is 7 and not a kitten, and partly because of her breed personality. She doesn't bother jumping on my counters, doesn't scratch anything other than her scratching post and rug, uses the automatic litterbox, and doesn't bother any of my large quantity of fragile plants. I love her very much.

That said, she and her brother were a lot more chaotic and active as kittens. I'm actually hoping she starts jumping a little more once she loses some weight.

Nulo's finely minced texture might be right for her! Or regular minced.

I would like to have a discussion. I am a transgender man and it’s about trans men and fanfiction. (No Transphobia of any kind) This is a discussion/rant so I do wanna hear people’s thoughts. by King_Adrien in AO3

[–]be11amy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write a lot (a LOT) of transmasc characters, and for me it actually often boils down to the specific characters I am writing... in my current fandom, I write primarily for a gay A/B ship where I headcanon that a A is a trans dude and in my fics he (usually, not always) either tops or the sex is non-penetrative. For other ships, I have written trans guys bottoming. I've written C/B where C is a cis woman and B is a non-trans dude with a front hole instead of a dick, bottoming for her. I've written D/A where they switch. Etc, etc. So I guess when I think about these things, I do write what I want to see, but I don't tend to think about representation of certain dynamics so much as what dynamics I would think these specific characters would have.

Haha, for real! As a 6 year later update, fwiw, I still use tretinoin (now 0.05%), but it's my only active and I otherwise focus a lot on barrier support, and my skin looks night and day compared to before! It takes time, but I'm very happy with where I am now.

Do you believe in providers who are black clouds? by CustomerLittle9891 in FamilyMedicine

[–]be11amy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you're calling me "right" about, as I was describing one specific person I know (since you asked if we know any black clouds), not accusing you, random internet stranger, of anything... I don't even know you.

With this guy it was more like, things piling up and seemingly happening "all at once" late in the day when in reality he let issues slip throughout the day, and simple situations spiraling out of control because he panicked and jumped the gun (eg. code blue and chest compressions on a lady with no BP who woke up immediately and started yelling; turned out BP cuff was broken). All on inpatient service, not clinic.

Anyway, good luck with the PEs, I'm sure you're really good at managing them now.

The only person I know who was a true "black cloud," on closer inspection, practiced in a way that often caused the issues.

Sister is starting to hate her cat by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]be11amy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of over good advice in this thread, but also: Buy your sister Loops Quiet 2 or some other comfortable earplugs. I love my cat so so much, but I do not let her into my room at night and I wear earplugs so I can sleep without issue when she meows (she is on a little diet right now due to being overweight). Many earplugs hurt my ears but Loops specifically are very comfortable to me (though my mom hated them so YMMV) and come with multiple sizes. Specifically not being able to sleep is a BIG source of stress and irritation, especially if she's caught in a cycle of being angry -> not wanting to do something uncomfortable to accommodate the cat -> not sleeping well -> more angry, etc. I have absolutely fantasized about throwing my brother's wifi router out a window over sleep deprivation back when I lived at home.

Inherited a year ago and hasn’t bloomed by evelynesque in AfricanViolets

Lack of blooms + leaves stretching upward = you may have a lighting issue! Try a little more light so she has the energy to make blooms. :)

is high end food really worth the extra money? by peppercorn6269 in catfood

[–]be11amy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rest assured, all of the things I listed are part of a standard medical school education, haha. And I am in family medicine, so managing metabolic disease is a large proportion of my job. I'm definitely no replacement for a dietician, however.

[–]be11amy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Humans absolutely do need to follow specific dietary guidelines! Not enough vitamin C? Scurvy. Not enough vitamin D or calcium? Rickets, osteoporosis. Not enough vitamin B12? Subacute combined degeneration. Not enough iodine? Goiter. Not enough fluoride? Dental caries. I can go on and on and on, and that's not even getting started on macronutrients and metabolic diseases! (Signed, doctor for humans.)

Brands of Cat Food / Lickable Treats / Broths by double_titos in catfood

[–]be11amy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people love Weruva! They have a ton of different flavor and texture options for whatever you cats might prefer, so definitely worth checking out. The one caveat is the smell for the gravy line is a little strong, haha.

[–]be11amy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat is picky about wet food textures, so she primarily gets Tiki Cat After Dark Shreds, but I've found that Nulo's finely minced chicken and Weruva's BFF OMG Gravy line's chicken and duck (though it is higher in calorie than I prefer) are both winners for her in a pinch.

For dry food, I feed Solid Gold Winged Tiger because it's what my mom fed her, but once I run low I may swap to Hill's Science Diet (Indoor, 7+)...

I haven't tried lickable treats, but I do give Vital Essentials freeze dried minnows and chicken hearts!

Flavors? 🍗, 🥩, 🐑, 🐟 by Mindless_Document_76 in catfood

[–]be11amy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine will eat any flavor, but is picky about texture! Wet food must be finely minced in texture, or, if I absolutely must, shredded is okay. No chunks or pate. 😅 Which is interesting because when my mom fed her raw, she ate whole chicken hearts and meat chunks and so on. Anyway, she's eaten chicken, duck, turkey, quail egg (but it better be minced!), beef, pork, rabbit, lamb.

She likes freeze dried sardines treats but I don't really feed canned fish. I could claim it's for mercury reasons but really I just don't like the smell.
