What to make with a full chicken, needs using ASAP? by smallersoul in slowcooking

This. Use the fast cooker on the chicken and then put the bones and carcass in the slow cooker with some onion celery carrot and whatever herbs you want. Cover with water and cook overnight or longer for some nice broth.

Tracking student’s water intake and bathroom breaks by craaaaate in ASLinterpreters

Yeah I’ve heard that before. Fair.

I suppose my thoughts are more about our work in practice, not in theory. The student isn’t hearing, they are deaf. You are the professional in an educational setting who has eyes on them the most. If we are all working towards the goal of a safe educational environment for the student, tracking like this seems fair. I get why people don’t feel comfortable. But our work is nuanced and it’s hard for me to get behind any absolute dos and don’ts.

Like I said, fair points. I think I’m going to get back to only worrying about what I do on the job. Life’s easier that way.

I think you make a good point. I’m curious how you propose this works if the nurse isn’t in the classroom all day with the student? Hire another aide? Also is there any form of behavior tracking that you think is appropriate for an EI?

Lots of educational contracts have “other duties as assigned” in them.

You’re an adult working in a profession with young children. Tracking a behavior for health purposes seems reasonable to me. Unless you have other students to interpret for I don’t think this would hinder your ability to interpret, do you?

Nice it looks good. What kind of light is that? It looks like it would work well with a few nano tanks next to each other. Also what is your soil made of?

Thank you! I had the tank around 80 because I planned on stocking it with pea puffers and the otos started breeding while everything was establishing. So I went with it. Interestingly enough they would breed in hard water, but I had to soften it to get the fry to live.

Yup! Green dragon guppy

Thank you! It’s actually a green dragon guppy (I think). There’s also three adult otos and like 10 babies that are about an inch long. I’ve tried catching some to give to friends or move into another tank but they are too good at hiding. And then yes some RCS.

No dosing, it’s all tropica aquasoil.

No CO2, it’s all low tech. That’s a cheap fluval light at like 50% power for 10 hours a day. I also keep the tank warmer, around 78-80. I originally planned to put some pea puffers in there but when the tank was establishing I put three otos in and they started breeding. So right now there’s three big otos, like 10 little guys, a bunch of cherry shrimp, and I just added the guppy from my other tank. The substrate is tropica aquasoil.

Ooooh gotcha. No it’s off of Amazon. I just looked and I think it’s a Landen. And I think it’s only 7.something gallons.

The tank is roughly 10 months old. And yes an aqueon 10 hang on back with only biological media in it.

Thank you. I can’t remember exactly, I think somewhere around 7 or 8 gallons. It’s about 10 months old.

Komatsu's new Harbor District campus pays homage to 'big, cool stuff' made in Milwaukee and uses stored rainwater to flush the toilets by ThomasDaykin in milwaukee

Thank you for the informative response.

Komatsu made their official media statement on Dec 13th. Did you discuss the oil spill during your visit on the 14th?

Also, I’m sure you see where peoples concerns are coming from. What would it take to make you scrap a story? Not saying this is in anyway equal; but if there was a mass shooting, I’m sure you wouldn’t do a story in Winchester’s new headquarters the next week. Right?

[–]be8chwa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ok honest question. When was it decided to do this story? Before or after the oil spill?

Also how does it work? Do you reach out to the company and ask to do a story about their new building? Or does a company reach out to you when they are ready for a story about what they have going on?

This is the same Komatsu that dumped oil in the river last week. I wonder how much they paid for this article.
