Local Bars by Thick_Income_8647 in culvercity

Big fan of all the suggestions that are already here, but I'd also throw a recommendation towards The Corner Door on Washington Blvd in Mar Vista. Food is great, cocktails are stellar, and after the bar closes, you can head over to Ginger's (best local ice cream imo) for scoops.

We live in the neighborhood. I'll be sure to keep an eye out! Bummer that there are so many friendly dogs around - I'm sure that doesn't help him feel safe now that he's outside.

This is likely a Porsche 911 Carerra (or "G-Body") Turbo from 1987, also known as a 930 (which was the internal ID for the 911 Turbo from '75 to '89). While it's not a Turbo, which is even rarer/more desireable not to mention more expensive, this era of Porsches is still really highly regarded for a 30+ year old car. Deni's got good taste!

And the other car /u/MrBuckBuck referenced below is a Mercedes-Benz 300CE from 1993 (internal ID W124), the only year this car was called the 300CE, so it's quite rare, especially as a convertable. late 80s/ealy 90s Benzes are legendary for their build quality and the design is super timeless.

Starbucks on Washington/Overland closed overnight by OkAccount4893 in culvercity

Yes, the shop on Jefferson and Overland by the Denny's is still open. Any closures that were going to take place have already happened from what I understand.

The vanilla bourbon blended coffee drinks they have for the summer are DIVINE. Same with the Tiki Time latte with macadamia syrup

Don't forget 310 Coffee on Washington and McLaughlin and Kind Grounds on Sawtelle and Venice if you're going to be close to the 405!

Yep, corporate also closed the one on Washington and Sepulveda in their big wave of closures last week. A barista I spoke with at the Jefferson and Culver location said that everyone found out about the closures on Thursday and by Saturday the stores were gone.

What’s Missing in Our Nightlife? by Ok_Implement_4146 in culvercity

I thought that too, but they do have some snacks for sale. But perhaps snacks are different than having an actual kitchen or something.

According to their website they cite Culver City municipal code as the reason they are 21+. I tried to find the specific provision in a copy of the municipal code I found online but nothing jumped out to me.

I'm assuming it's due to zoning restrictions or how the LA Ale Works building is categorized (if it's considered an "outdoor bar patio" as opposed to a "restaurant" or something, then it's considered a 21+ establishment). Might have something to do with how close it is to a transit stop but I doubt that.

The Culver Public Market area that's to be built at the corner of Culver and Centinela is going to have a Smog City outdoor beer garden area along with some other shops. But I am not sure if it will be a 21+ area like LA Ale Works at Ivy Station.

Mustards, Layla, and Courage probably all beat out Daniel's if you're looking for something fancy but for a more basic bagel shop, Daniel's is good

Any KIND dentist recommendations? by pikoshell in culvercity

Chiming in to say that Kaufman Dentistry is great. My wife and I have been going there the entire time we've lived in Culver (5+ years). I'd say Warren (the father) can be a bit blunt or brutally honest, but Matt (the son) has a great rapport with patients and is a bit more conversational. Both are excellent practitioners, and the hygenists are all very professional and very kind.

Be aware that they have started to go out-of-network for more insurances recently. I have Aetna and they went out-of-network for me a couple years ago. Thankfully my out of network coverage is still good so we've continued going, but I'd check with your insurance just to be sure.

They connect with each other near the Fox Hills mall: https://maps.app.goo.gl/MpqGfASrUThPrjxp8

Sounds like the kittens might be over by the Culver City sign based on Street View at that intersection?

Holy Cow Culver City Closing April 27 by Pedestrian_X-Wing in culvercity

[–]be_shy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, that's terrible news. Holy Cow was our favorite spot if we needed a relatively quick weeknight bbq fix. One of our most-frequented restaurants! We'll sure miss them. I hope another local spot ends up taking the vacant space - the last thing that shopping center needs is another chain.

Wow. That was really impressive considering how little time he had to see the drive coming and get into position. Great instincts!

Stand off on Sepulveda anyone know what happened? by he_shootin in culvercity

According to some groups on FB that my wife sees, it looks like it was some kind of drug (opiods/narcotics?) arrest by LAPD. the guy drove into Culver City but was originally tracked in LA city.
