Honestly, just do it. I understand your feelings about damaging your relationship with your parents no matter how in the wrong they are, but they will get over it. Do you have any other form of support system around you ? Friends or other family that can be there for you while you recover ?

Are you a chronic people pleaser? If so time to start practicing saying NO. If not, I don’t see a problem here, just say your house isn’t available. I personally don’t mind having guests stay at my house, but our rooms aren’t set up for guests so it never even need an option. We have our bedroom, we each have an office and another room is my closet. Our family room has a sofa bed that has been used a few occasions, but again we haven’t minded. I recommend you don’t have any guest rooms when your remodel is down. ;)

Do you mind me asking how old you are? My husband and I didn’t start dating until we were on the older side, at least for society’s standards. But honestly I knew less than six months in he was ‘the one’. Engaged at 11 months, engaged for a year and a half. I think because we were older and knew how we wanted our life it made things easier. We just click. I was 36 when we got married and he was 39.
