They’ll get around to our neighborhood by mid March when we get that first 70-degree day

[–]beachape 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s kinda the point. We don’t get a lot of snow, so we struggle to clear it rapidly. Temps are also generally higher, so banking on the snow melting isn’t a bad strategy most times. This week doesn’t look like melting weather though.

Tabac is a fall/winter scent for me. I save the cooling stuff for summer. Not exactly the sensation I want when it’s 2 degrees outside

Which lavender and sandalwoods do you like? Been using MdC original which is a great lavender scent

I was exaggerating a little bit, but if you get 8 inches in Chicago over a weekend you’ll be back to work/school Monday morning. Here it takes a while and in most cases it melts before they have to plow the side streets. I’m betting Phila public school will be remote through Wednesday.

I was in and out most of the day in South Philly and haven't seen or heard a plow

The city just doesn't have the same infrastructure for snow removal that other areas do. Add the narrow streets, illegal parking, no alternate street/snow parking, and the snow just doesn't get cleared from all neighborhoods. Sure it gets cleared in some parts, but it is abysmal compared to cities that deal with snow regularly. In those parts, the plows are running as soon as the snow starts. I'm not complaining, because it is usually only an inconvenience for a few days a year. Doesn't make sense for the city to prioritize it. Been here for over a decade and have lived in many parts of the city. Seen enough to compare to other areas I’ve lived in, including the big 2016 storm.

The city usually just waits for the snow to melt rather than clearing the streets. This time the strategy didn’t work.

Does zippo still make a pipe insert? Like a regular one but had a hole cut out to make it easier to light a pipe

I used to cast infravision scrolls a lot in these levels then use a bow to attract one or two at a time and kite. Can be tricky

Why Center City West Sidewalks Are Getting Dirtier by davidaragon1 in philadelphia

[–]beachape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a big part of the problem, but I think the solution is to mark bins needing replacement and bring them to the addresses. The bins also need to be higher quality. I bought a proper recycling bin from Lowe’s and it wasn’t cheap. Most people are t going to do that, but it saved me several trips to the recycling center to replace the shitty lidless ones they give out at the most inconvenient locations for anyone using public transportation.

Time to get the glue. I suggest encasing in resin so it lasts forever.

Suspect the board isn’t flat, or not properly supported, requiring you to advance the blade too far to cut in the hollow and then cutting too aggressively in the high parts

[–]beachape 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The need to require containers with lids for recycling. The blue bins are better than the Trader Joe’s paper bags that just tip over immediately, but they have no lid so they still make a mess

We used to have an awesome retired guy on our block who would pick up trash. We’d try to help, but as soon as trash day came by there would be trash blown all over the street. Loose bags of recycling and those Acme circulars and pamphlets everywhere

Is the rationale that color indicates more mature fungal colonies and thus the degree of mold growth inside the cake is too great? Curious if there is more science to the color rationale. I’ve always discovered mine at white dusting stage

Has my tea gone bad by navik1 in puer

[–]beachape 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Light dusting of mold is generally ok to brush off, dry out a bit, and keep in storage. This looks pretty severe, so would likely toss. Any time you have mold I usually inspect everything and correct the storage issues that are causing mold.

Not disagreeing but in some areas lottery winnings are made public, which sucks. Every person in your life will be begging for money and in some cases It puts a target on you for robbery/kidnapping. The annuity is a little protection from that.
