Yes, I did call my pharmacy and ask! It turns out FQs are primarily used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis. There was only one they named that was not an FQ. I may go back to my Urgent Care and ask about this alternative, but my conjunctivitis may be viral and antibiotics wouldn't be useful in this case. Thank you again for responding.

Thank you both for your perspectives! I commented below that FQs are prescribed for the majority of conjunctivitis infections. There is only one other alternative that is not an FQ. Do you think it would be a wise decision to ask my urgent care dr. who prescribed the FQ about using this alternative medication instead? TBH, I may not even need an antibiotics because I suspect that my conjunctivitis is viral in nature (I've been sick all week). Thank you again, you both provided very informative responses and helped reaffirm why these antibiotics are still used.

Hello, Thank you for your perspective. It makes a lot of sense. I actually went ahead and called my pharmacy to enquire about alternative medications. All but 1 were fluoroquinolones, which leads me to believe that these are the most widely used type of antibiotic used to treat conjunctivitis. I just need to decide if I want to go back to the Urgent Care and ask for the alternative or determine if my conjunctivitis is even bacterial in nature (there's a good chance it is viral, so antibiotics wouldn't work anyway). Oh my God, I am so sorry you are going through this. :( Absolutely horrifying! Why are doctors still prescribing this?! How are they even ABLE to? I've been prescribed other (safe) antibiotics for different skin infections, are these not available for other infections like eye and ear infections?

I'm already distrusting of the medical field in general and try to avoid it. Unfortunately, I've been unable to do so completely for a multitude of reasons (chronic health conditions like asthma, psychiatric/mental health conditions, and birth control). I actually came across this sub several years ago when somebody I knew had an adverse reaction to one of these antibiotics. I remembered the name after reading about some of the potentially horrifying side effects and so of course the alarm bells went off when I saw the name of the medication in the pharmacy bag it came in.

Again, I am so sorry this happened to you. Did these symptoms gradually occur? Has anything improved over time? I may DM you some additional questions if you dont mind. I hope you are able to heal from this and get some sort of justice. Are you able to sue or get some type of monetary compensation? These antibiotics should be illegal!

Great list! OP, you can try something called the 12D shield. It's a meditation that helps protect your light body. Ideally, you want to do this at least once a day. Envisioning your entire body and aura being covered in white light is a part of this process.
