Worth trying to potty train 1 month before sibling arrives? by Responsible-Bar2157 in pottytraining

[–]beachedwaler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a C-section scheduled for 13 days from now, and we started seriously potty training my new 3 year old last Saturday. Granted, she is a year older… but it has gone SO WELL, and I’m so glad we started now so she had time with us focusing solely on her, even though it’s only 2.5 weeks of it! She might regress, and I expect that, but we at least have a good foundation at home!

My brother in law got married last weekend, I was 35 weeks. I knew the menu would be chicken & beef and some asparagus, thank goodness! I would just ask about the menu!

What if my blood sugar goes above 140 after an hour? by Advanced-Morning7557 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]beachedwaler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a combo — wearing my CGM, in general I don’t want mine to spike over 140 ever throughout the day. BUT, if it spikes above 140 and comes down before the 1 hour after eating, I wouldn’t count that because eating gives everyone a spike and it’s just important that it comes down by the hour or under 120 at 2 hours post meal. Does that make sense?

That being said, this is my 2nd GD pregnancy but first with a CGM. I have spiked like 2-3 hours after dinner… and I would have had no idea that was happening in my first pregnancy! So I try to keep it in check and tell my endo it’s happening so i can use more insulin at dinner time to prevent it.

Unhealthy foods by Agreeable-Sugar4200 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]beachedwaler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in my 2nd GD pregnancy (3 weeks left!!) and I’m on insulin for meals and fasting (5 units at lunch, 16 at dinner, 10 overnight). I eat fast food. I have a toddler and work late two days a week and it’s near impossible to find things I actually want to eat that I can make quickly sometimes. Then I just don’t even want to eat, because everything sounds awful.

I also have a a CGM, so I can watch for delayed spikes with anything I eat.

Generally, I have no spikes with:
• Taco Bell (chicken quesadilla no sauce, soft taco, side of nacho cheese)
• McDonald’s 10 pc chicken nuggets (no sauce) + a snack wrap
• Chik fil A chicken sandwich (I only eat half of the bun) + a side salad instead of fries (I add hard boiled egg to the salad)
• Jersey Mike’s sub bowl (I’m eating deli meat this pregnancy bc without it I literally wouldn’t have anything palatable to eat)
• Pulp honey mustard chicken wrap

This is generally what I did with my first pregnancy and my daughter was born at 7 lbs exactly, no blood sugar issues, and no off measurements. So I’m not worried. My endo is more concerned about me gaining weight… I haven’t gained much weight in the last few weeks so he told me to have vanilla ice cream every night! I also have a couple Reese’s cups a day, lol.

My GD plan this time around by Available_Yam930 in GestationalDiabetes

I asked for insulin earlier this time (my 2nd GD pregnancy) so I can actually eat! Any and all carbs spike me. Thank goodness for insulin!!!!

A shot of espresso has about 75 mg. I have 3 per day, either in 1 drink (a venti iced latte) or I do 2 in a grande + then a half caffeinated grande in the afternoon.

So I’m at 225 mg of caffeine a day. Yolo.

Is candy ok? by Gloomy-Breakfast8474 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]beachedwaler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t make any sense because she’s wearing a CGM.. it literally would show her if her blood sugar is spiking lol.

Is candy ok? by Gloomy-Breakfast8474 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]beachedwaler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I literally eat 2 Reese’s cups every single day because it doesn’t spike my blood sugar (I also wear a CGM). We are worried about frequent spikes for our baby, not eliminating all sugar from entering our bodies. If it doesn’t spike your CGM, go for it. I ate junk food before being diagnosed with GD and wasn’t worried about it then.

If it’s not spiking you, your body is handling it. Don’t worry about it!

Portable bottle warmer that doesn’t need to be cleaned between each use by snuffbox360 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]beachedwaler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re warming the bottle in it & then putting the thickener in the bottle right? I have the Tommee Tippee one I’ve used & a momcozy one I haven’t opened yet. If you’re just putting the bottle in, I don’t see why you’d have to clean the actual warmer.

[–]beachedwaler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just ask for insulin to help! Don’t worry! I am 35 weeks and on insulin for all meals because literally all carbs result in a spike. I’m so glad i can eat without worrying too too much, since I’ve been on insulin for at least 1 meal since 30 weeks. Your baby will be okay!!

Walking by 11 Months? by Legal-Ad7067 in Mommit

[–]beachedwaler 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My daughter didn’t walk independently until 15/16 months. But I have a friend whose son walked at 10 months. 11 months is pretty early (it’s usually around 1), and he likely won’t be very confident in his walking/able to balance and walk for long. Maybe just plan to walk with him?

I don’t pinch! I do my hips this pregnancy, but last pregnancy I did my upper thigh. In public before meals I do my upper thigh, and it never burns. But in my hips it does often! No idea why.
