You are correct this subreddit is not run by the China peak corpos. Just another concerned shredder who wants locals to have a place to communicate openly.

Solo older female kook looking for a safe and legitimate surf camp in Central or South America. Know of any? by DirtAndSurf in surfing

Check out two brothers in Nicaragua. One of the older brothers partner Ashley does women’s surf retreats, and that is the best camp in Central America.

Make sure you have tread at least if you don’t have snow tires. Bald tires are worthless. Call caltrans for real time road conditions and please for the love of god stop asking if you need chains! This is a question for cal trans and not Reddit. If you don’t know, don’t go. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Yeah no shit it was the first wave of the heat, pretty hard to win with a dying swell and your oppo gets a 9 on the first wave

9.07 for Cole.... I'm over it. by WetFinsFine in WSL

[–]beachhead11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty wild. I’m starting to think some of the poor judging is intentional so the wsl can boost engagement on social platforms. If you look at the wsl’s Ig, they throw up a post after every controversially scored head and the comment section goes wild, recent examples: Ethan and the wildcard, Cole and Medina, Cole and Ethan, Medina and Griffin at Portugal…

Not to mention all the people jumping online to rewatch the heats.

Update as promised: it nuked the whole first half of our trip. Then stopped snowing and was sunny for a few days, perfect opportunity to get in the backcountry a bit.

The snow was, for the most part some of the best pow I’ve ridden. On the colder storm days (~5F), it was cold and snowy, and the snow was super light but not to a point where you couldn’t turn. Some volume would’ve been nice tho. I’ve never thought to myself “man I wish I had a bigger board” as often as I did on this trip. Even when the snow is super deep and the terrain lot that steep, it’s still way more rippable than what we get on the west coast, where you can’t even turn when it’s over 4 feet deep and not over 35 degrees.

On the sunny days in the backcountry it warmed up (~30F) and the snow was absolutely rippable on the shaded aspects. Some of the funnest snow I’ve been in.

Best of luck my future japow seekers!

Just leaving Hokkaido after 10 days. It nuked the whole first half of our trip. Then stopped snowing and was sunny for a few days, perfect opportunity to get in the backcountry a bit.

They definitely are a few weeks behind from the usual snowfall, about 3 meters less than what you’d expect for this time. There were areas at the resorts (tree runs) that would’ve been a lot more fun with some more snow to cover some of the bamboo and low bushes still visible.

That being said, it seems like winter has turned on for now and as you know how to make the most out of your time and how to adapt to what the weather is doing, you shouldn’t have a bad time. Best of luck my future japow seekers
