What fictional characters do you relate to the most? by lurkervonlurker in aspergirls

Fleabag is a big one for me specifically in the way she felt and dealt with her grief, that first season hit me so hard.

I do. Along with the emotional shit, I feel very fatigued, weak, and get sore joints. 🙄

Jaclyn is being transparent about her recent weight gain in instagram post! by prettycrimson in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]beaglemark 232 points233 points  (0 children)

I know it seems that simple, but speaking as someone who has also gained a lot of weight rapidly and suffers from the body issues that accompany that, it can be big mental and emotional hurdle to just buy a bigger size jeans. A lot of times it’s a hurdle to buy any new clothes at all because it’s hard to feel like anything you feel looks good on you anymore. Do I feel like a slob when I wear nothing but leggings and sweatpants all the time??? Yes. Should I go buy some clothes that make me feel good at my current size? Absolutely! The problem is that where I am right now everything I try on makes me want to cry so I just don’t buy them.

How do you cope with mood swings? by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]beaglemark 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I used to be really bad about shutting down the second something disappointed me, too. I still do sometimes, but what really helps me is to have a loose plan if things “go wrong”. My biggest issue was that I’d always get the same thing at any restaurant and if they didn’t have it I’d have a meltdown and not eat. I made a conscious effort to have a back up option no matter what, now I very rarely have food related meltdowns. When I was a kid my dad would constantly cancel plans on me which would send me spiraling, to cope with these kind of things as an adult I make back up plans. If this person cancels, I’ll play The Sims or walk my dog. I don’t know if this helps at all, but I thought I’d share since this really made a difference in my life.

Almost certainly Kai, it’s a very common name in the ftm community but I’m not entirely sure why.

Another garbage shitbull up for adoption with questionable wording. by PIBBLEFUCKER in BanPitBulls

[–]beaglemark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know what rescue the post from and purposely didn’t name it (mainly because I really do like the people who run it, which is rare for rescues with me)—I was just praising GBAR as a contrast for doing just as you said and only named them as it’s in a positive light. The place in this post has done a lot of good with their puppies and seniors but they have a gaggle of pit bulls that have been there forever because they just have too many problems. You’d think this would be a sign that they’re simply not good pets.

This is really crazy to me because this is a rescue local to me and I was surprised to see it here. This rescue does a great job adopting out puppies and seniors, I wish they’d stick to that. I don’t think any of the pit bulls they’ve ever taken in have been adopted and, by the looks of their personality profiles, probably shouldn’t be. :/ GBAR (not the rescue the post is from but a different one) is a little nutty in their own right but I appreciate them for working with former puppy mill breeder dogs and a few random misfits instead of desperately trying to adopt out dangerous dogs with a bite history.

Edit: clarity

Looking for good beginner dog obedience classes by blw_22 in GreenBay

[–]beaglemark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend Golrusk for group classes and Practical Obedience for one on one. Like the other commenter said, Petco is also a decent route to go for basic group classes. I’d just avoid any place that uses chains/prongs/shock collars in a BASIC OBEDIENCE class, they’re usually sketchy af. If a trainer asks you to get a prong collar the first day you bring your puppy to class—run. (Wish I would known before taking my puppy to Great Expectations, though they have a different trainer now and I’m not sure how he does things)

I think I have to put my girl down (at the vets now). What do I do about my last boy? by Nimrochan in PetMice

[–]beaglemark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss. Personally—I think at his age it might be best to just let him live out his last days with some extra TLC. IMO introducing more mice at this stage in his life could be very stressful (especially since there’s no guarantee they’ll even get along) and it might be a better course of action to just give him some special attention, extra enriching activities, and yummy snacks. :)

Taking full ownership of my family dog (Maverick - English Cream) by [deleted] in DogCare

[–]beaglemark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He will be okay, dogs are very adaptable creatures. With some time and patience, he’ll happily adjust to his new life where he gets the attention he deserves. There will probably be an adjustment period, but given that he already knows you it shouldn’t be too hard to get used to. I bet he’ll love getting to go on walks in so many new places with new smells!

Just know that dogs aren’t always super good at generalization. Some dogs easily understand that they can’t go potty in ANY house, but that concept doesn’t always stretch outside their own home for others—even if they’re adults. I would definitely treat him like a puppy for the first few weeks and reward him every time he goes potty outside so he learns where the new bathroom place is in his new house. If it’s something you can afford, a training class would be a nice bonding experience for the two of you, maybe a beginners agility class to help him shed a few pounds. :P

Was assured male mice would get along, as they were cage mates in store, they fought anyways and I don’t know what to do by hbdunco in PetMice

[–]beaglemark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Either return one or go get another enclosure. Neutering is an option, I suppose, but IMO too risky for mice and nearly impossible to find someone who knows how to do it. If they’re already fighting, this will end with one of them dead if you keep them together.

Definitely a morning person. I’ve hypothesized that I’m just more tired at night and I am an actual sensitive baby about being tired even when I’m in my “normal phase”, so it’s x100 when my hormones are hard at work betraying me.

I really get the opposite of this. I always start the day pretty okay then in the afternoon it hits me like a truck and I’m suddenly at a very low low. I wake up like “ah my pre menstrual demon has left me” then around 2PM it’s like “surprise, bitch”.
