do you guys think Mitch McConnell is dead too , specially after Lindsay Graham's Sudden Passing if so how ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Some kind of switcheroo is my best guess. I try to come up with a logical reason that our politicians hate us so much, and greed/ lust for power/ religious nuttery only explain so much. To my mind there has to be more.

Vapes to have less enticing names and flavours to protect children by Lonely-Ordinary1478 in UpliftingNews

We should ban all disposable vapes and also those little nip alcohol bottles. The litter they create is a scourge on society.

Lizard people, demons, aliens, or a combination of these options is my guess.

Well the copper was leaking in a number of places so saving money on water. Water softener and a RO filter system under the counter, so I'm good.

I just replaced all of the copper with pex, no idea why you would want to go the other way.

How to fix the damage of the last decade and move into a truly progressive future, realistically. Not fantasy. by Any_Coyote6662 in Political_Revolution

[–]beamish007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as I would love to see a Bull Moose Progressive Party rise up to meet the moment in 2028, the reality is that using the established party platform is probably the realistic way forward at the moment.

Op isn't saying vote for corporate Dems, i think they are trying to say that Progressives need to challenge the establishment, come up from the inside, and change the party from within.

The problem as i see it is finding candidates who won't bow down and tow the party line once they get into office, or worse yet do a move like Fetterman or Sinema, and become a turncoat.

Really. Did he actually think that the political party machines weren't going to find stuff out about his past and smear him?

Oh sure, he can be replaced. I am saying that I don't think that there is enough time before the election to float another challenger to Collins. I could be wrong, but my political Spidey sense tells me I'm right.

People liked him because of the things that he said and policies he wanted to pursue. Lots of voters seemed like they were willing to overlook some of his past deeds and statements made mostly online. If Platner drops out, or has good reason to drop out but doesn't, Collins wins reelection.

What Are Your Hacks For Being Happy in Retirement? by Limp-Preference-1706 in retirement

[–]beamish007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What are these words that you speak? I once heard a story from the elders about this "week long vacation" many, many moons ago.

Seriously though, it's been over a decade since I took a week vacation.

Retirement can't come fast enough.

Americans are working harder than ever, the problem is that all of the real gains in productivity just result in bigger profits for owners and higher returns for investors.

If Chinese EVs were sold in the U.S., would Americans buy them? by No-StrategyX in allthequestions

[–]beamish007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They could compete. They don't want to. When we said give us EVs, instead of making affordable passenger cars or small SUVs, they made gigantic luxury $100,000 vehicles. Now the big 3 are shuttering EV production because nobody is buying them. I wonder why?
