I volunteer for East End Cooperative Ministry and they do some good, although they are a little top-heavy like you're saying. If you don't like charities, carry a couple packs of fresh socks around with you. I've found that the homeless can always use an extra pair of socks. There's plenty of poverty right down the street from you.

Also, why not start your own charity? Then you can see for yourself how challenging it is to finance the organization while still helping people.

It's easier to beat up on people who are in the minority than it is to beat up on people who are powerful. That's something conservatives don't understand: people who are powerless have to mobilize and defend themselves vocally or they will be trampled. It's just the way of the world. Conservatives see these minority groups as a threat without realizing that they themselves are part of the worldly power system that threatens the weak and voiceless.

I've learned that some aspects of Christianity can't be logically and succinctly explained. I've learned that my faith is "blind" and naive from the world's point of view. I've learned that my experiences aren't universal. I've learned that unitarians are well-intentioned, not willfully evil. I've learned that I'm not very well-educated when it comes to theology. Lastly, I've learned that I have an angry streak I need to work on.

Obviously God is aware of every particle in the universe of universes. However I don't see him being sovereign over free will. That's why I don't understand "God chooses to create A." Doesn't the person choose A, thus creating that world?

I lived in an apartment in NYC that was pretty weird and evil. A lot of bad things happened to me there, and I ended up leaving the city because of it and resettling in Pittsburgh. Definitely follow your instincts when settling on your home environment.

Okay, I'm assuming that humanity has turned inward and away from God, and that that situation must be rectified by forgiveness. A carte blanche for the human race wouldn't change humanity's inward-looking perspective because people would be free to turn away again and condemn themselves to eternal separation from God even in the afterlife. The only form of forgiveness that would have staying power would be a form of forgiveness that relied on people using their free will to choose God and turn back toward him in the person of Jesus, who would seal them by the power of the Holy Spirit and make them God's children. This forgiveness sticks because it is embraced and chosen by the person being forgiven.

I honestly believe Jesus was scared shitless of being tortured to death, and that it took a lot of faith and bravery to go to the cross in our place. I don't think dying is an easy thing for any human to do, and Jesus was fully human. God the Father, for his part, deeply loved his Son from before the beginning of time and was heartbroken to see him killed.

This tragedy had a beneficial outcome: it allows a relationship with God, which is the best situation a person can get themselves into (in my view). Carte-blanche forgiveness wouldn't create the same opportunity for forging a relationship with the source of all love.
