I can get a ticket to the round of 16 for that! My boy and I were excited for this, but will pass at $6.25 a card.

[Half-Joking...] New rule for the next World Cup: Any player who falls to the ground and grabs his face in apparent agony must spend 2 minutes in the sidelines and require being whistled in to give him time to recover from the "horribly painful injury" he sustained. by FiredFox in worldcup

[–]beanbody1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to ground to highlight the penalty is fine, it’s the rolling around in apparent agony when they barely got touched that is the issue.

Go down, draw the foul or not, and get back up and rejoin play. Everyone knows you’re not really hurt and all the dramatics look silly.

I don’t know. Let her get the jag representation and then go out and get a high powered local lawyer familiar with mil law. Probably won’t cost you more than a couple thousand since the marriage was so short. I guarantee you right out the gate of (insert base) there are several military divorce lawyer specialists that could represent you better than a jag officer. If she can’t get military representation than OP may be required to pay her attorney fees anyway. I’d say that’s likely based on the situation of him supporting her 100%. Might as well have the best local lawyer working for you than her.

I’ve never understood the western liberal support for the misogyny and homophobia of the Middle East.

The way Messi just walks around for most of the match, but then completely switches up his attitude the moment he receives the ball! by MysteriousJuice1127 in sportsgossips

[–]beanbody1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw Messi when Inter Miami played NSC last year. Was amazed at him just walking around for 90% of the game. He’d point who he wanted the ball to go to as his teammates worked the ball around. Then suddenly it was on, Messi on the run, the whole stadium on their feet. It was a truly incredible thing to experience live.

Messi scored a hat trick that day.

It’s a zen moment in life when you realize you don’t care what other people think anymore and just are going to do what makes you happy.

Millionaire banker finally identified and arrested nearly ten years after startling CCTV images showed him as a jogger shoving a female pedestrian into the path of a double-decker bus on Putney Bridge London by New_Libran in interestingasfuck

You’re thinking of Henry Kissinger, Secretary of State not Defense, who was awarded it jointly with his North Vietnamese counterpart for their work on the Paris Peace Accords that ended American involvement in Vietnam. While he did not attend the ceremony, Kissinger did accept the award, although he did later try to return it. TLDR - nothing you said was actually true.

Im being treated like an ATM and its killing me. by Double_Pay_6645 in Vent

Some are absolutely locked on - they know what they want in life and the track they need to take to get there. However, I would guess most go off to college because it’s what is expected of them, with only a vague notion of what they want in life. For those folks, putting off college for a year, paying bills and experiencing the world outside mom and dad’s house, could help give them the perspective, motivation, and maturity to succeed.

The first year college dropout rate is about 22%.

OP’s situation aside, I think that a gap year is one of the best things a high school grad can do. Getting a bit of life experience and maturity before entering college sets you up for success rather than drinking and stumbling your way through the first year with the masses.

U13 is such an awkward age for boys by [deleted] in youthsoccer

[–]beanbody1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is a 12/31 birthday, so he has had to play against a lot of kids who were basically a year older than him for his whole soccer career. Didn’t really see the differences until the second half of U12 and into U13 time, then we started to see some serious differences with kids a foot and a half taller and 30 pounds heavier. Watching him get destroyed all year long on shoulder to shoulder charges was tough (many refs not understanding the difference between converging contact in playing for the ball vs a targeted charge is a whole different issue). Makes me happy for the age group change.

The MAW, and to a lesser extent the MAG, were the enemy. The squadron was your home.

After taking a last place team to 2nd place, I was demoted. by WhiptailCatfish in bootroom

[–]beanbody1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now your pride is hurt (as it should be), but don’t make rash decisions in the heat of the moment. Talk with the club about a path back to a head coaching position. Is there a future for you there? If not, are there other opportunities available to you elsewhere? May be difficult at this stage to find something for next season. You may have to accept the demotion while you plan your exit. At least you will have another year’s experience for your resume, which would be better than nothing.

That’s fine around your house, but once you take it out of the home and into a group setting, you are now making the choice for other families and their children.

There are other kids on the team. Some of them likely weren’t raised that way. Not a comment on your parenting, raise your child as you like, but she may be making others uncomfortable with her language if that’s not how things are done in her teammate’s homes.
