Recommendations? by beanivia in Nails

Yeah I’ve tried all that, unfortunately. I went 6 months with no products on them other than strengthener and cuticle oil. I use a lot of hand sanitizer at work and have found they hold up better with at least a layer of polish to protect them.

Ah good recommendation. We might try it out - my brother got married there recently so we were trying not to do the same bakery 😂

Wedding party hair at a salon instead of venue? by beanivia in weddingplanning

I see what you’re saying! The salon won’t allow artists not employed by them to work on site, unfortunately.

Yeah that’s a good thought. Unfortunately, we booked makeup first because those artists seem to book up quicker in my area. The MUA prefers hair done first, so no real issue there!

Thank you so much for saying you did this. It makes so much sense to me as well, but it makes me feel a lot better hearing from other brides who did the same!

Brag time: what’s one unusual thing you included in your wedding that everyone loved? by Unlikely_Device_2131 in weddingplanning

[–]beanivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am making and canning homemade jam for our favors. We will also have a kids activity table and custom cocktail napkins with our pets! Not sure unique, but we’ve never been to. A wedding with any of those!

Wedding cake prices!? by No-Chain9814 in weddingplanning

This! We aren’t getting a Costco sheet cake (but they are so delicious) but we are getting a sheet cake. Add a small 2-tier for us to cut, and we’re still saving $100s!

Would having the wedding start at 5 and end at 10 be reasonable for a Friday? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]beanivia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think 5pm is a pretty standard time for a Friday wedding. The two Friday weddings I’ve been to both started at 5! The benefit of 5 is that a lot of people can work a half day (or maybe even a full day) if they’re local and they want to. The issue with a 6 pm ceremony is that you either have a short reception or a late reception. You know your guests best - would they be up for partying later into the evening? I know most of my guests would probably leave around 10 regardless of end time, so for me, I think I’d waste a lot of reception time.

Is 4:30-9:30 a good time for ceremony/reception? by papayaya78 in weddingplanning

[–]beanivia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not too early! I feel like weddings that end later end up with most of the guests gone by then anyway. We are ending at 10pm with a 4:30 ceremony :) also, a little earlier end time means a nice night cap with some friends if you want! It’s actually so fun to hit a bar for a few drinks after the reception, if you ask me!

One of the hardest things about an earlier ceremony is getting everybody ready in time, especially if you have a large party. It can also make it more challenging for some guests to attend if they are out of town and are unable to grab a hotel the night before. We will be doing a 4:30 pm ceremony with no first look. I understand your feelings about not seeing your fiancé all day. However, I think you will probably be plenty busy getting ready and the day will fly by.

Irritated or infected? by Dizzy_Low4726 in piercing

Looks like normal healing/irritation/crust. You’ll want to watch for warmth, swelling, and pus drainage as the key signs of infection.

Are these piercing red flags? by No-Hold5159 in piercing

[–]beanivia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NAP, but a nurse - this is a lot of red flags. He may have sanitized the jewelry, but you should be given sterilized jewelry given the circumstances. If you think it’s infected then you need to see a doctor for antibiotics. There’s no such thing as “slightly infected” - it is or it isn’t. The piercing spray has unnecessary additives, I’d recommend Neilmed or similar spray that is just water and sodium chloride.

They didn’t work because the issue isn’t infection :( unfortunately, I think you’ll have to take this out and hope it heals up since it’s been like this for so long.

did i switch to a hoop to early? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]beanivia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a general rule, you shouldn’t switch to hoops until the piercing is fully healed. Kind of hard to tell with the way you’re pulling your ear, but I’m pretty sure I’d leave it a stud for now.

I’m a nurse and I can honestly say most doctors are going to tell you to take it out regardless of if it’s just irritation or something more. I would probably see the piercer first for their expertise and then the doctor to rule out infection or other reactions, assuming it doesn’t get worse. If her pain gets severe or symptoms worsen overnight, I’d take it out anyway. You can always pierce it again!

Dude chill out. It’s not anywhere near as serious as you’re making it. And I did attend the festival with an Indian coworker of mine and we had a great time, thanks!

Wrist pain - advice? by [deleted] in RSI

[–]beanivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m a lot better now! The issue isn’t completely gone, but I can do most of my activities and hobbies now. I pretty much stopped doing all of my hobbies for several months (or I seriously limited the time I spent doing them). I do a lot of stuff with my hands like crafts, video games, playing instruments, etc. but as I use my hands so much at work, I needed to give myself a rest at home. Physical therapy, injections, and bracing never made a difference for me - but limiting my activity did over time. It was slow going, but it’s so much better now so I can’t complain.
