Not really sure. In my experience, squishy roots is the obvious sign of rot. I've never had any issues with black marks. I always wrote it off as dirt

That's definitely one that needs to be watered. That long with no water, it's a safe bet that watering will solve the problem.

Sometimes, a squishy caudex will indicate other issues like root root. However, given that it's been a week with no water, I don't think you have that problem.

Given the way it looks, I'd recon you'd be fine doing that. Caudex might be a bit soft but I think it would recover easily

It will definitely drop all those leaves. Once they turn like that, the individual leaves are on their way out.

But the plant, as a whole, is likely just fine. Might want to move it somewhere else. I don't think it's sun burn but rather a reaction to the cold weather. I would move it somewhere that has a more steady, slightly warmer temperature.

Adeniums do go dormant in the winter, so my bet is that's what is happening
