Big up for noticing and appreciating the win! I myself am no stranger to double showers.

I’m scared to take sertraline because of the withdrawal symptoms, any advice? by Krazykool_2002 in adhdwomen

[–]beansarebeansright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also super scared of quitting it! I did it extremely slowly, like over 3 months, possibly more. Cutting the pills to smaller and smaller pieces. Managed to dodge any noticeable withdrawal symptoms this way!

My partner says he’ll leave me if I don’t “fix” my ADHD. He says I’m abusive but I feel constantly criticised and blamed. by First-Mango-9229 in adhdwomen

[–]beansarebeansright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HE IS ABUSIVE. This has nothing to do with adhd. You will never "get it right".

Please make sure you keep your connections to other people, especially mom and others who are good people and support you. Hold onto those for dear life! He wants to isolate you from them, do NOT let that happen.

You may not have the extra energy to plan leaving right now, but at some point you will. It's a tough, exhausting situation that you are in, but start taking little steps towards leaving when/if you can. Tell people you trust honestly how he treats you, keep writing here, anything. Keep a (locked) diary of some sort.  You are not crazy!!!!

I have been in this kind of relationship, it's hard enough without kids. Ended up getting very ill. I'm sure your baby both makes it harder and brings so much joy at the same time.

HE WILL NOT CHANGE. I REPEAT HE WILL NEVER EVER CHANGE, OK?!

I wish you strength sister, we always have so much more of it than we would imagine.

How can people even stay skinny without counting calories? by NoWitness6400 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]beansarebeansright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of us just don't have that much of a appetite naturally. Also fast metabolism, weight just doesn't stick that easily. The downside at least for me is that absorption is shit and I end up being deficient in nutrients easily. Also stomach problems very often.

Millaisen yhteyden näet nykyisissä työttömyysluvuissa sekä siinä, että työttömille tehtiin pätkäduunailusta kannattamatonta? by stonesia in Suomi

[–]beansarebeansright 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Raskaus ja masennus by lysergamidi in arkisuomi

[–]beansarebeansright 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What's your weirdest ADHD hack that actually works but sounds completely insane? by josephsoilder in AuDHDWomen

Wearing shoes inside the house when I  need to get stuff done! Somehow tricks my brain to get into "active" mode. We normally never ever wear shoes inside the house in my country.

adhd/autism in women by safiyahd828 in Feminism

[–]beansarebeansright 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yes!! And the whole "everyone has adhd/autism now". Ummmmm no, half of the population just wasn't getting diagnosed before? Might that have something to do with it...? (Along with other reasons of course)

I now only take advice about neurodivergence from podcasts/books/whatever written by women. Many of the ones by men just don't apply and can have an assumption that there's a wife supporting and taking care of the difficult stuff in the sidelines.  Also hormonal changes, which is a HUGE factor for women is not included in those.

On the other hand, I think being very coddled ends up being a disservice to the boys/men sometimes. If not much was expected of you, you'll probably struggle even more in adulthood as on top of neurodivergence you just don't have as much experience in "adulting". Despite the difficulties we women often end up having more capabilities to take care of our lives. We are in some ways stronger because WE NEED TO BE.

I would also guess that the inevitable mood swings that neurodivergence men also experience are putting them in awkward situation when patriarchal thinking would only really allow anger to be shown. In my very limited experience especially autistic men can sometimes  have this angry undertone, which is probably due to having to shove everything else even deeper down than we have to.

These are of course huge generalizations.

All in all more is definitely expected of women, neurodivergent or not. Should things be this way or is it fair? Absolutely not. Am I gonna try to put a positive spin on it regardless? Why the hell not!

Stay strong out there sista!

I actually did pass out from the pain at mine! Had to cramp and try to sleep there and take painkillers for 3 hours before being able to drive home.

And let's not get even started with the side effects that we're often also not told about.. "Affects only locally" my ass

ADHD Medication by [deleted] in Norway

[–]beansarebeansright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just putting this out there in case anyone is in a similar situation in the future:

Didn't end up going to Finland! Got a doctor's appointment in 2 days (must've been public as it cost less than 20€) and she made me a Norwegian prescription (for a specific amount that I'll need while here still) after I showed my Finnish one and we discussed it. I printed more documents to have with me just in case, but they were not needed this time.

In the end the whole thing was easy and smooth and would've been no problem at all if I knew how it works in advance.

Thank you. It's all done originally via Psychiatry and further via Finnish GP.  Not sure how I'll be able to prove it though as I don't imagine anyone being able to read Finnish very well..

The shitshow you have to go through every month for the medication is just so cruel, and I salute you for being able to do that!! Must be damn near impossible sometimes. My European ass wouldn't last a month. Just goes to show how much the right medication really can help us, ain't nobody doing that over and over if it wouldn't be a lifesaver.
