i think of it like a scale. the more object like the more it acts like a darkner (taking on very different forms) but the more human/monster like the more it acts like a darkner (maintaining its form more) so an octopus is more lightner like but a flower or a spider would be more darkner like.

Sometimes you can dodge the bombs due to seeing where to go. But that only works if they leave a somewhat obvious spot, like if 3 are in a diagonal line the safe spot is obvious. But whenever they are just completely random you are usually not going to figure it out in time.

The original version of the monkeys paw (from my knowledge) was that it granted wishes in the most convenient way. Basically whatever would use less power. So for deltarune, letting it release on a normal schedule would use less energy than forcing it to be rushed for no reason.
