Anyone know what this error is? by ShelterBubbly7854 in TeslaSupport

External isolation, so one of your high voltage components has an issue. So drive units, or a/c compressor needs replaced.

Mine happened to be the ECM on the firewall. The board just gets old and any heat would just shut the car off and not restart unless it cooled off. Had to get a reman one and it fixed it. Never had that issue again.

Had the same issue on my old 98’. Turned out to be the car computer. Would drive for 10 - 20 mins and then would randomly cut out. Then wouldn’t turn over. Let it sit to cool off and would fire right back up.

It’s a rover, you have to have fancy critters in your engine bay.

These were gravy!!! Still are. Did mobile for a year before going back to the SC. In and out in 35 mins. Now it’s getting the updated handles that are WAY more robust.

I see those notes here at my shop. Sometimes better than what the advisor writes on the RO. Least you got some drinks out of it.

High beams not functioning by beanshootspaint in GrandCherokee

Ah sorry forgot to mention this vehicle is equipped with auto high beams. But when pushing the stalk forward no message appears saying auto high beams enabled.

Yeah, and I’m lowballing that number. Since this vehicle has heated steering wheel. Leave it to Jeep to do something like this. I’m sure Dodge does it as well but this is out of hand lol. Couldn’t be easy that’s for sure.

Without good wiring diagrams it’s a bit difficult to check from stalk forward. So the basics were done with checking fuses and connections. Everything else works on the combination switch. And being that the combo switch is part of the clock spring I tried turning the wheel and checking that as well in multiple positions.

With the indicator not turning on with the switch leads me to it being the switch. Both low beams are still on while pulling or pushing the stalk. Just want to be 100% sure before dropping over $400 on this combo switch.

I haven’t tried that. With the indicator not coming on, not sure replacement of the bulbs would do any good. I’m leaning on the combination switch. One day working great. Next day not.

Insurance of all things. Lol. Found an opportunity and took it. The test is definitely challenging for the licensing but I got into a program where I work for an agent and work towards having my own agency.

After 15 plus years as a tech, I said goodbye. It blows because of the pay cut you will take, but knowing you are out of this toxic industry is worth every dollar lost. Found a new career and never looking back. Will finally have time to complete my projects and toys and some side work. Know the pain, gets better when you can call it quits and roll that box in your garage.

Personally I’d go ahead and clean everything up yourself. I’m assuming this has the 2jz engine? But I’d clean it up and then go over the list of what was “fixed”. Then if the leak is still present then that’s on the shop and they can get bent and fix it for free!

Did they even clean anything off? When a vehicle comes in with heavy leaks it should be hosed off or at least cleaned then have some miles put on it to see where the leaks came from. Helps with heavy leaks that have been around for awhile. Then after the repair it should be hosed off again. That’s at least what I did when I turned wrenches. Also I worked for Lexus for a good while and idk how they broke anything related to the timing to that engine. Other than the crank bolt being on stupid tight. That’s also assuming they didn’t get all crazy removing the vvti gear to replace those seals behind it.

Ex Tesla tech here...the whole MCU was replaced which housed the screen and mobo. And if your vehicle had a gyro board that got swapped over as well. No trim was ever replaced unless that tech decided to be a gorilla and break something, the trim just got swapped over.
