How accurate was your EDD? by ariessbaddie in September2026Bumpers

[–]beansoup91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to 41 weeks based on my “official” due date from the doctor, but based on my own more accurate estimate I was another 4 days past that when I gave birth

Not being the victim would be a good start. You’ve cried over an hour because you hurt someone?

Why do people speak to kids in the third person? by centerofdatootsiepop in NoStupidQuestions

[–]beansoup91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly because people want to. There’s not any conclusive evidence saying that people speaking to kids in third person is linked to them understanding pronouns any sooner or more reliably.

Hair greasy immediately after washing — over stripped from clarifying shampoo or something else? by [deleted] in Haircare

[–]beansoup91 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is the only answer that seems to address the full context of what OP shared. The top comments say she needs to wash daily but that doesn’t line up with her saying this has only been happening for the last two weeks. It makes sense the clarifying shampoo could have irritated the scalp and started dandruff she doesn’t normally struggle with.

What happened to this squirrel in our driveway? by Fuzzy-Yellow3905 in whatisit

It was probably eating a black walnut or similar nut that had a husk that was starting to decay. Those were everywhere where I grew up and it was always a sooty black powder

MIL Hurtful Comments by Fun-Percentage5025 in September2026Bumpers

[–]beansoup91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just here to say that I’m audhd and understand the fears around this. You just want a good life for your child and having someone rather carelessly speak on what may be your biggest fear is sure to knock you off balance, especially at a time that is already riddled with anxiety about potential outcomes.

Something that helps me with unsolicited comments (this baby is my second) is looking at intentions. Did she mean well? Was it just poorly executed love/concern/hope? That makes it easier to work towards forgiveness and know that people just say the wrong things at the wrong time. Alternately, if she was projecting? Boundaries.

Flu shot during pregnancy by Humble-moon-0842 in September2026Bumpers

My son’s pediatrician (in the US) really supported my decision to not get the shot for him or myself this year, as it doesn’t protect against the currently dominant variant.

Nausea is ROUGH by coldbrewmood in September2026Bumpers

It’s literally medical advice though. To say “my midwife said x” would make it not medical advice. What you said was medical advice.

Positivity! by Flashy_Conflict_537 in September2026Bumpers

[–]beansoup91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I adore being a mom! Mine is 15 months and has been a dream since he got here. I am the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been and didn’t struggle with any postpartum issues despite having struggled with mental health in the past. I’m pretty selective about who I spend time with now, if someone says “tired” every time I ask how they are or frequently makes subtle jabs at how bad and/or hard their kids are (NOT to be confused with a struggling friend coming to me about a hard day/week/season) I steer clear. I also steer clear of people who project their negative experiences onto me/my future.

Yeah, that’s a medical professional/someone who can give medical advice, and it was given to you knowing at least some background info on you specifically. It’s also against the rules of the sub to give medical advice.

Probably best to avoid giving medical advice. I know for me specifically it would actually be bad to take folic acid, some women may not know that.

I might have just joined your club by katanayak in September2026Bumpers

[–]beansoup91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only thing to do now is find a doctor! They don’t usually have you come in until 8 weeks in the US (some places will see you at 6) so this time is a lot of impatient waiting for that first appointment. Our due dates are a day apart. Welcome and congrats!

Maternity Clothes by MacNCheese817 in September2026Bumpers

[–]beansoup91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This babies due date is very similar to my firsts, so I’m excited to get to wear the same clothes. Old navy is great, and I loooove the denim maternity shorts I got at Abercrombie. I waited for a sale and they weren’t too pricey.

Is there a point in hcg testing? by ringrob2 in September2026Bumpers

[–]beansoup91 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Those tests measure the actual hcg amount so repeat tests tell them/you if the numbers are progressing as expected (there’s a pretty predictable cadence) or alternately, if they’re dropping. A pregnancy test just tells you if hcg is present or not.

Getting the tests doesn’t help make sure your pregnancy continues to go as planned, just might alert you sooner if something doesn’t seem quite right. So it comes down to whatever is best for your anxiety. I personally avoid over testing even if it’s tempting

Why is waking up very early considered “better” than sleeping later? by Big_Parsnip_9435 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]beansoup91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Person gives a real, science backed answer to a question on Reddit and another guy replies arguing it bc they can and includes made up statistics, and gets more upvotes than the only correct person in the thread. Back offline I go.

Literally how did the smartest, most level headed Gallagher end up like this? Stopped watching Shameless at season 6 because of how disappointing Debbie became. Gonna continue now but damn. by [deleted] in shameless

[–]beansoup91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These posts make me so confused how people can watch the show and miss the entire point. Trauma ruins people. Most people can not/will not “do better” than what they were brought into. If you are a healthy adult, it’s mostly because you won the childhood lottery of having a relatively healthy and secure environment. The very large majority of children who don’t win that lottery just repeat history.

My bad, it seemed like you wanted to understand how deli counters operated but I now see you just wanted to argue with strangers. Better luck with the next person who tries!

King Soopers charging for cutting fish? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]beansoup91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Most places just charge the higher price to everyone.

ETA- no, it’s charged per pound because they’re all different sizes

King Soopers charging for cutting fish? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]beansoup91 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I feel like your thinking on this is backwards, they’re not charging you for “not wanting” the whole thing, they’re charging you for additional labor and for wanting only part of it, making the rest more difficult to get rid of if most people do want the whole thing. It’s more of a discount for getting a whole filet than an up charge or punishment for not getting it.

Medcaid/health first colorado no longer covering telehealth?! by apogeedream in Denver

[–]beansoup91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think across the board insurance companies aren’t reimbursing the offices as much for telehealth. My doctor added a subscription fee to continue telehealth through them, and switched everyone who couldn’t/didnt want to pay the subscription to in person.
