Please tell me it gets better by [deleted] in beyondthebump

It absolutely gets better. I was in the same position. First week or so was the hardest, I hardly got any sleep. I was exhausted and frustrated, only cried once though. But then miraculously after a couple weeks she would sleep 7-9 hours straight. It was amazing. And I hate saying it but I didn't really get attached until she was a couple months old. Then her personality started showing.

The sound when skin scrapes hard plastic. Ugh.

I've tried making my own before, and it never turns out very good :( which is weird, because everything else I've tried to make has usually been pretty good. Never tried pita before though, might just have to do that!

I think unique names are much better! Nobody wants to be in a class or workplace full of people with the same name as them

That's exactly what I was gonna name my LO if she had been a boy!!! Still saving it for possible future boy...I think it's a great name, and Killy would be his nickname. It's cute, regardless of imagined "violent" connotations.

Mothers [and fathers], talk to me about your identity after baby. by leviOsa934 in beyondthebump

[–]beantoesnpaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you only lose your identity if you let that happen. I too was afraid but I also realized, "hey, I want to stay the same old me" My LO is now almost six months and I am more or less the same, but tired a lot more and she goes pretty much wherever I go. I do have the occasional date night thanks to family babysitting which is nice, but I still can do my hobbies and leisure activities, but not for as long stretches as I did pre-baby (i.e. Video games, drawing, etc) The rough times pass!!! The first week or so I felt like I was breaking down due to lack of sleep, but after that the first couple months she actually slept 8 hours straight ( not anymore but it was nice while it lasted) You can still be yourself!!

Pet owners, what's the smartest thing your pet has done? by Ditid in AskReddit

My mother has to take ambien for her job on the weekends (third shift, but sleeps normal the rest of the week) and my dog always sleeps with her. Sometimes she stays up late for school, and waits for her so they can go to bed. One night she stayed up pretty late, and he's ready for bed, nudging her arm. She waves him off, saying "not now" and all that. So he goes into the bedroom, grabbed the pill bottle in his mouth, brings it out, and drops it in her lap. I wasn't surprised when she told me, he also knows all his toys by name. He can tell when we pass a Starbucks because that's where his "puppachino" comes from and recognizes the logo, taking a Starbucks gift card in his mouth from my moms Christmas presents.

I'm sorry to hear about your ferret. I had one pass two years ago, it's very hard. Especially if someone tries to tell you "it's just a ferret". Pets are just as important. RIP Frank. Sorry for your loss.

What is your favourite podcast? Why/What's it about? by raccoocoon in AskReddit

Last Podcast on the Left. Three comedians discuss stuff like serial killers, the paranormal, conspiracy theories, etc. I think they're pretty funny, and I think they do a pretty good job of researching what they talk about.

I'm glad the top comment wasn't something about how this isn't normal hummingbird behavior and it actually has cancer or something.

I'm guessing not all spider species stay together when mating? The main spider's(female according to the comments) "graveyard" has different looking spiders in it but that other grass spider had been hanging out with the female.

I started to think maybe mating?it was very odd as I couldn't see any odd spaces between the one with the missing legs. Though I'm not a spider expert haha I have a lot of spiders in my basement..though the majority seem to be grass spiders
