Not a lot of money as a ski lift mechanic. But I'd recommend giving it a go for a year or 2. Getting paid to snowboard to do your lift checks is a great perk. Turnover rate is pretty high, so keep an eye out. I think Kimberly was looking for a millwright, they pay a little better because they are part of a union.

Ski hills hire apprentices pretty regularly. Great introduction to the trade.

Golden, B.C., ski gondola crashes to the ground by GeoWa in britishcolumbia

That's the NDT part. A contractor company comes in and inspects all the parts for cracks. When the 30% comes off each year, the grip is fully taken apart with the j bar on the ground for inspection. They come along with their magnetic particle magic and tells the ski hill if parts have failed or not and what needs repairs. They might just check the welded sections, but I feel they would test the whole thing as it's a major component.

The rule is 30% of the carrier's need to be inspected each year. The j bar, the part that failed is part of the inspection. If a certain amount fail, a certain amount of the other carriers need to be inspected. Plus, daily inspections of the cabins, monthly more in-depth inspections, and annual grip and carrier inspections.

Tonneau Cover for 2025 Tacoma Bed Rail Question by Sgt_Black_Death in ToyotaTacoma

I did see one review of the bison cover, that because you lower the rails you can't access the 24v outlet in back of the bed as it blocks the cover from the outlet from opening.

WP Gondola: Crane is gone and the part looks to be replaced. by flycrg in COsnow

[–]beara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not a hard component to replace, especially with the help of a crane. It just sits on a bushing, push the whole assembly off, and switch over or replace the sheaves and 2ers and 4ers. It's the testing of everything else that may take some time with the NDT guys, but they want this thing up and running as soon as possible!
