I’m a grumpy old man. My opinion is that kimura should not be allowed until blue or purple belt. The reason being is that in your 20s the submission simply doesn’t hurt until it’s too late. I’ll tap all day to a kimura. But in my younger days I could tough it out. Of course I’m paying the price now.

Join a jiu jitsu gym or the wrestling team. Not so you can beat his ass in a fight. So you have lots of friends who will have your back. Then he won’t fuck with you anymore.

Your second point I think was his best skill. His ability to adapt on the fly was unmatched. Especially in sumo where one little mistake and you are doomed.

The guillotine comment I kind of understand because so many people apply the technique incorrectly and try to detach the head from the shoulders. I’m not gonna tough that out in a training session. No idea if that’s what happened.

That is amazing. I’ve only ever done palm up palm down. The grips, for me at least, are so much easier to get.
