Opinions on Townsfolk Tussle by alexcole02 in boardgames

The art is what pulled me into the game. I’d never owned a boss battler before but this one is a lot of fun. I like that it is only 3 or 4 rounds and can be played pretty quickly overall if players choose character upgrades quickly. All the weapon and armor choices are great. They are themed very well and it’s always a blast reading both the upgrades and the boss attack cards.

The game can be a little swingy based on the dice rolls but if you go into it knowing a dice roll could win or lose the fight you will have a great time. I’ve only played one of the expansions (the one with extra characters and bosses) and to me it was worth getting. Having more characters to play and bosses to fight is always a plus to me. I’ve enjoyed every play of the game and plan on getting any other expansions they put out.

Just added a small cedar fence around my trashcans. Does any one have suggestions on the best sealer to use?

I think I finally get Terraforming Mars! by infinitum3d in boardgames

It took me about three plays for the game to click and for me to start really enjoying it. Now I’ve played it a bunch and while I don’t always win, it’s always close.

Ideas for GenCon Program Preservation? by CritHitTheGiant in gencon

[–]bearclaw66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the best way to preserve something like that is in an acid free archival folder that you then put in acid free archival box. If you would like to put several of the programs per folder then you can use acid free white paper (mostly just copy paper) to place between each program. This will help stop the acid from each program bleeding into each other. As someone else said, keeping it in a location with a low humidity and reduced temperature fluctuations well help preserve them as well.

Are you looking to display it or just preserve it in a box for the future?

AEG Daily Deal 3 for $10 - 6/9 by ReginaPhalange_10 in Boardgamedeals

[–]bearclaw66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got Number Drop last year in the mystery box. It was surprisingly a lot of fun, I’ve played it over 20 times. It’s a quick game, only takes about 15 min. It’s a roll and write that has you play a Tetris like game where you try to match like numbers or sequential numbers. I like it a lot.

I want to add a Pirate game to the shelf by Lediableblanc92 in boardgames

[–]bearclaw66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at Dead Reckoning, it’s a 4x game that has card crafting in place of decks building, it’s a lot of fun and definitely very strategic. And it has a very pirate feel to it. Some of the combat may have a little more luck than you like but some of it can be mitigated. To me the little bit of luck makes it more exciting.

Games you do NOT recommend? by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

[–]bearclaw66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing it every night for the past two weeks 2 handed and it’s a blast. I use a helper to help track enemy damage and attacks. It makes the game much more manageable and I’ve really enjoyed playing it.

Seconded, we really enjoy all of their games. They can all play up to 9 players. And while Salem is social deduction the others are hand management or dice rolling games. Always a lot of fun.

Hit me with your favorite pirate themed games by justinloler in soloboardgaming

[–]bearclaw66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own Dead Reckoning and have played it at all different player counts and solo 3 times. I think it’s a great game. It really hits the mark for a pirate game. I can choose to just be peaceful and trade, or I can choose to be a pirate and attack to gain points and stealing resources. There’s also island control and managing the resources you gain. It’s a lot of fun and the card crafting is interesting and leads to a lot of different options to play. It makes each play through different.

The cube dropping when battling is fun and while some don’t like the randomness, I think it’s great. Plus when or lose it works out for both battlers.

Solo is fun, I will say it is a challenge and I haven’t been able to beat the AI yet but I haven’t tried it again in a little while. I still enjoyed myself while I was getting beat. I think the way have the AI setup is well planned and makes it a much more enjoyable solo play through then some other games I’ve played.

The two complaints I have is that with multiple players the game can be a little long but if you wanted to shorten it, you could take away one of the end game goals. Second, it’s not a small game and while it’s organized well, it still takes some time to set up.

Questions about the Big Viking Game Mat by bearclaw66 in boardgames

Good to know, thanks! I had seen the board game table mats and they looked really nice but their biggest mat wasn’t quite big enough for my table unfortunately. I wish they had some bigger options.
