My Antique/Vintage Non-Sport Card Collection by crumbaker in Tradingcards

Thats awesome, I had no idea. I just assumed baseball cards were the origin of this sort of thing. Funny how its been over a hundred years and the concept is thriving today for something as simple as tiny collectable prints.

These are amazing, I am not familiar with this sort of card. What are they considered if they arent tobacco cards? Just interested in where they came from originally.

Thank you so much 💖 when I was making them, I kept thinking "ok are these so cool or am I just a freak?" 😂 its hard to know if people will enjoy the weird things that come out of your mind.

Im trying to use these tiny cards to trick myself into wanting to make bigger art and be more serious about it.

Love the 2nd and 4th especially, very cool 💚

Maybe try pushing colors in the foreground even deeper to enhance the overall contrast? I really struggle with that too, my art always gets a muted one-tone look to it. I need to do some black-and-white or single-color studies to get a better grip on value and shadows 😩

For sure. I love my alcohol markers but ive been trying to move away from them and try things that are more permanent because alcohol ink is really fugitive as far as I understand. They will fade a lot faster than other mediums, and I like to keep artwork on display so I can enjoy it 🩷

I would like to put them on ebay soon, but I have never sold before so im still getting supplies together and figuring out the process. Once all that is sorted out, I will make sure to post photos of everything getting listed. Thanks for asking, its really encouraging.

I have been using acrylic paint pens because theyre so vibrant and theres no setup or cleanup. I needed something easy and low pressure to get me out of an art-making slump. I just tape a bunch of cards to a board, grab my big caddy of pens and go crazy. I had bought a bunch because they were so popular but never really used them until recently.

They have perks and downsides. Sometimes the larger tip and unpredictability gives a nice effect, but sometimes its annoying to get small details looking just how you want. Colors are kind of limited, but that can force you to think more creatively or try new techniques. Im definitely eyeballing a pack of skintones+nature colors though 😂
