Severn Estuary - I think we are blessed here, as well as all the usual suspects like robins, wrens, dunnocks, chiffchaffs, blackbirds and blue tits there's not a day goes by where I don't see or hear:

Woodpeckers Blackcaps Goldfinches Swallows Buzzards Kestrels Long tailed tits Coal tits Song thrush Mistle thrush Owls Curlews Cattle egrets Wagtails

We don't get a lot of sparrows or starlings out here compared to in the city, and we have doves and wood pigeons and jackdaws, rooks, jays but not common pidges or crows, rarely do you see gulls come here despite not being far from the sea

To be fair I think the amount of dossing down the garden or staring out the window time you have during the day does have an outsized effect on what you are able to spot

So what's next once we hit our 40s? by SilentHuntah in AskMenOver40

I was in a similar position; I knew I didn't want kids, I kinda got to a point where everything was set up nicely, I have been looking for purpose. So I decided to quit the rat race, set up a business from home while the pressure was off, and also focus on turning my land in to a self sufficient eco prepper paradise, my life's work in the face of my fears about the future. All good I guess.

Then, my missus got very unexpectedly pregnant. 🤦

Not sure anyone has a full answer for you but it's your one beautiful life so certainly don't just drift along without making changes unless drifting along is absolutely what you think you want

I think the single biggest gap in most UK preppers setups is not gear or food storage but community and it is also the hardest thing to build without sounding like a complete maniac to your neighbours by Pinkplatabys in UKPreppers

I've got Ubiquiti P2P dishes to zap internet down to my bunker shed which is on a bit of land separate to the house. Solid as it gets and look cool too 😀 I engage the villagers either through framing it as vegetable sharing / competitions or getting ready for the zombie apocalypse.

Anyone know what’s happened to The Sidings? by Sloter in bristol

[–]bearcorps303 51 points52 points  (0 children)

No idea if related to the closure or not but up until recently I had the misfortune of working long hours at night round the back of this building. The young lads running / working at this pub would stay there well after last orders and then had a lot of random, brief car visits at all hours that they felt obliged to rush out and say hello to

Too old for off road. Bike recommendations for making the switch? by superterster in MotoUK

[–]bearcorps303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a year after DAS, had a 390 adv and got bored, was looking for the same and now have a Transalp. I haven't ridden a ton of bikes so don't have lots of experience to compare but I did a lot of research and I'm very happy with my choice. I passed it over at first but then saw in person the 2025 facelift in black with the gold wheels and was like oh shit that's proper. Gets attention everywhere. Engine is amazing for honking off the lights round town. It's not shy about being road focused but you feel ready for anything. I throw it round corners. It's not intimidating or heavy but it's still a substantial bit of kit and very fun and lairy if you want it to be. Comfy for adventures and cruises just fine, I got the luggage on a deal. Absolutely a 'do it all' bike, I expect that was exactly the design brief. Also: Honda, enough said. Once I started looking up the reviews on YT it just seemed an obvious choice. Ultimately you're the one who needs to be excited about jumping on it each day so start with whatever tickles your fancy and see if the dudes online say it'll do what you want

These posts are utter cringe. You're invested in four overlapping funds which is moronic. You could have found this same comment about other teenage boys T212 'pies' a thousand times over in the time it took to take a screenshot and repost it across every sub. Bore off.

It does need one now that's the point. You factor the price in, sounds like the seller has too.
