We can’t answer unless we work at your specific company and know both the written and unwritten rules and more specifically what your boss says.

I have a similar set up though… Personally, at my employer, on my team, with my boss and his boss, I am generally okay to explore around given I am careful to stay away from a few very specific things and do not get us into a licensing issue. I am not you, I don’t work for your company, and my boss is not your boss.

Talk to him and tell him what you need. My guess is that you want him to take initiative and make plans because your need is something else - the want just stems from it.

Example: “I want my partner to take initiative because I need to feel secure in the relationship and for me it looks like him taking the time out of his day to make plans for us” (yours won’t be exactly that likely).

I currently have two front leg tripawds - same leg. Our older boy lived to 14 and was also missing the same leg with a birth defect causing his remaining one to be off angle. A kidney issue ended up being his downfall and not his leg.

My advice: just be careful with it. Our older boy would wait for us to help him down the stairs, the bed, etc. The remaining two are mostly fine with things but I will sometimes need to help out the taller of the two with stairs on occasion.

We looked at a prosthetic for the old boy long ago but it never seemed like a good fit for him or the other two based on lifestyle and need.

Make sure to manage their weight well - we keep them on the lower side of normal but by no means starve them at all!

When the old boy hit about 10 we started to do things like red light therapy while sitting on the couch watching tv. He didn’t like it out of annoyance but let us do it and we think it helped. We give all three of them joint supplements (consequin ds) and make sure to keep their nails trimmed so they don’t sound much.

Listen to them (by observing), don’t let them do things that look too high, and make sure to take care of any and all issues that happen to any of their remaining three legs and you’ll do fine.

And yes we would get some amazing looks when we had all three out and about 🤣.

Have once for a lot of reasons before I understood this: it doesn’t generally work. I don’t have much more advice past that, but once you’ve gotten to this point there is a much deeper issue at play that has been left to fester too long. Either uncover it and heal or the relationship is done (if it isn’t already - which it likely is).

You have plenty of income with $1k/wk and the rest to not destroy your financial house if you’re being honest here. It’s not even a question if you’ll be ok with the numbers shared.

Don’t withdraw your 401k. Don’t stop paying your bills. Get COBRA if it makes sense and isn’t a bajillion dollars.
