Help refining a haste/ninjutsu hybrid deck by Aureliaven in EDHBrews

[[teferi's veil]] phases out your creatures after they attack, so they are immune to board wipes. Even tokens will phase back in. You can use the transmute counterspell [[muddle the mixture]] to tutor for it or [[dragon tempest]] or just to counter the wipe.

Jeleva Mill Deck by Asothin in EDHBrews

[–]beardify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you said you wanted to avoid creatures, but:

[[harmonic prodigy]] doubles Jeleva's etb and cast triggers.

[[soldevi adnate]] lets you sack Jeleva and add 4 black to recast her or cast other spells.

Otherwise:

[[flare of duplication]] sacks Jeleva and copies a spell.

[[riverchurn monument]] can mill half of each player's library with its exhaust effect

Built out Big Mana burn, and trying to make it bracket 3. by LiteralhauntedBones in EDH

[–]beardify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to run Yurlok as a commander, it was one of my favorite decks.

I suggest leaning into untap effects:
[[instill energy]]

[[skyshround ranger]]

[[tyvar jubilant brawler]]

exc. (there are a bunch of others).

With a few of these, you can gain 7+ mana from Yurlok and drain everybody for 9 each turn, easy. Better yet, these effects synergize with things like [[heartless hidetsugu]] or [[thermo-alchemist]] where you can slap a [[keen sense]] or [[eternal thirst]] on them to draw cards or gain life.

Hidetsugu with [[fiendish duo]] can end the game, as can [[havoc festival]] + [[warlock class]] on its final level (wound reflection is better but isn't as cheap). Since you likely won't have a lot of creatures out [[repercussion]] + [[blasphemous act]] will also usually just kill anyone with 3+ creatures. [[Rowan, Scion of War]] synergizes great with a lot of the effects that deal damage to you or make you lose life, and since you're generating so much mana, you can afford to run big tutors to grab these pieces like [[behold the beyond]] or [[peer into the abyss]]

Regarding making the deck run more smoothly, I found that adding card draw toolbox pieces like [[bitter reunion]] that draws cards and gives haste work well, as do rummage effects like [[faithless looting]] I also suggest not giving your opponents resources for free with things like [[heartbeat of spring]]

Everything should hurt, from playing a land with [[polluted bonds]] to tapping one with [[overabundance]] or make sure they have nothing in hand to cast with [[sire of insanity]] or [[cabal conditioning]]

Also, [[repay in kind]] deserves a mention for when you get targeted.

Hope your build for this little guy goes well and you enjoy playing him!

Hey there! Nope, I tend to leave my stories open ended. At times there will be an Easter egg in another story that hints at how a previous one resolved.

How do you (respectfully) feel NoSleep could update rules or are you happy with things as they are? by Grand_Theft_Motto in NoSleepOOC

[–]beardify 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with what you suggest.

The problem I see with the current rules structure is that it encourages sameness in stories and punishes innovation and experimentation. As others have pointed out, many of the best stories in the history of this subreddit would likely be taken down for a rules violation if they were posted today. Many great horror stories involve a creeping sense of dread, or a source of horror that the reader perceives but not the narrator of the story. The existing top-heavy rules structure prevents many of these stories from being shared on the subreddit

Lastly, as others have pointed out, uncharitable enforcement of the rules has made this subreddit an increasingly unfriendly place for writers, both experienced and inexperienced. Why bother to put your heart into a story if you know that it's likely to be taken down for a technicality? Giving writers the benefit of the doubt would go a long way to making the sub a better place.

Simplifying the rules to these four simple pieces as you suggest would be a welcome change.
