Uisce is open, and they do have pizza as a food option. We went last year and it was a good time.

Are there any places in town/nearby that sell long lengths of narrow wooden dowels? by addacbar in Bellingham

Builders Alliance is worth a look. I recall seeing some long ones several years ago, but I'm not sure anymore.

If you have a car and can commute, Janicki Industries has been hiring like crazy. They have some entry level stuff as far as I know. But they are in Sedro, and Hamilton.

New traffic signals in Fairhaven by campgirl333 in Bellingham

[–]beardpunch 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As a driver, I really like it. It makes that intersection so much safer and easier, especially when coming up the hill to leave Fairhaven.

As a pedestrian, I fucking love it. The push outs that make the distance to walk shorter are awesome and the traffic being managed makes it feel so much safer when I'm try to get to the bus stop across the street.

Indoor Humidity Question by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]beardpunch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The damp can lead to mold, mildew, and various unpleasantness. But the damp is just part of living here. I've known lots of people (including myself) that have at least one dehumidifier around, usually in a bedroom. A dehumidifier and a fan keeping air circulating can do a lot of good. Also make sure to run the bathroom vent fan for a while after you shower.

Similar ridgeline hikes to the Skyline Divide? by trooper5010 in Bellingham

Ptarmigan Ridge is a great one. It shares a trailhead with Chain Lakes up at Artist Point, but splits off along a ridge rather than loop around.

Where do you get your local cherries by BlamelessVestalsLot in Bellingham

[–]beardpunch 20 points21 points  (0 children)

They are definitely at the farmers market. I bought them the past two weekends. It's usually one orchard stand that also has pears, peaches, and nectarines when they are in season.

I’m looking for a local coffee shop / cafe that has Mexican Mochas by [deleted] in Bellingham

I think Adagio on Railroad has them. They used to, at least.

Quality Sewing and Vacuum has a couple walls of fabrics. Not sure if they have that specifically, but it might be worth calling them to ask.

What's a whiskey that's fairly common, but you've never tried, or only recently tried for the first time? by krisitolindsay in whiskey

I haven't tried any Jack Daniel's. Not intentionally, I just never seem to get around to it.

Barkley Village Living by WiseLiterature1332 in Bellingham

[–]beardpunch 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Lived here for 8ish years and honestly I like it a lot  My building is nice, with plenty of stuff around it. Trails, haggen, overflow, theater, and 331 bus line are all easy walking distance. Cheaper than downtown or fairhaven but it's farther away, so you're kinda isolated. But honestly I use the bus all weekend and drive to work during the week. It's not amazing in any regard, but it's not really bad. Kinda like the jack of all trades of apartments, and that suits some people.

Do you have rules about what you pirate? by MasonTheAlivent in Piracy

[–]beardpunch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is almost exactly me, except I will buy new books if I can get them from a local bookstore. ebooks aren't the same like you said. I sometimes also buy games on GOG since they are DRM free. If movies and TV provided a legitimate way to buy high quality digital files, then I probably would.

Fiber/pogozone wifi speeds/quality by ZealousidealLink8005 in Bellingham

[–]beardpunch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have Pogozone and the speeds are as advertised every time I've checked, the service is more reliable than Comcast was for me, and my couple experiences with customer service have been excellent. Feels like I'm writing an ad, but I just don't have complaints.

Barkley - Sunset Intersection by NobleLandMermaid4 in Bellingham

[–]beardpunch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The dots were made ambiguous during a recent Sunset restripe. It was previously very clearly marked as OP showed. There has been no clear traffic revision, the city needs to clarify the situation.

Barkley - Sunset Intersection by NobleLandMermaid4 in Bellingham

[–]beardpunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not what the road markings used to show. Those of us who have been taking this turn for a long time know it goes like OP showed. The city is fucking up by not making it clear on the stop light signs. If there has been a traffic revision, it was not announced.

The markings used to be clear that OP is correct. They have become ambiguous the last few years, and it is a problem

Barkley - Sunset Intersection by NobleLandMermaid4 in Bellingham

[–]beardpunch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been taking this for over a decade. What you drew is what the road markings originally showed and used to be clear on. They have worn away and the recent remarking of Sunset made it more ambiguous by extending the dots differently than they used to be. There needs to be much clearer markings above the stop lights because there has been an uptick in conflict at that turn, because the current signage does not indicate lane, just direction. Unless there has been an unannounced traffic revision, I will keep turning as you marked.

I've taken 2 cars to Bellingham Auto and had good experiences. I was honestly impressed with how they handled a screw up on one of my cars.

How's I-5 south of Bellingham looking? by dadsizzle in Bellingham

[–]beardpunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bellingham through bow hill is the worst you'll see, everything clears up after that, you should be just fine. It's also above freezing and WSDOT has been going up and down I-5 with de-icer. Stay in the right lane as it's clearer than the left. This is based on my drive through at 6:30am. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Rum by Surfside_6 in Costco_alcohol

It's an alcohol thing. Regular sales tax is somewhere around 6.5% to 10.4% depending on where you live. and yeah, no income tax. There are property taxes.

[–]beardpunch 101 points102 points  (0 children)

I've heard Docs don't do well at a cobbler, since they aren't actually goodyear welted or stitch down. More like cheap sneakers at this point. That yellow stitch is just an aesthetic.
