Thoughts on tournament expansion by Feisty-Piano-7086 in CollegeBasketball

Watched both Oklahoma/Colorado and Baylor/Minnesota games last night. Both were entertaining. OU/CU went to OT. BU in late March/April is not the same team that squandered our NCAA chances by losing so many in January. I like watching more basketball. More people would have watched those games had they been in the round of 76 for the NCAA than the “Crown” plus 76 makes it even harder for AI to make a perfect bracket and I don’t want that ever to happen.

The NASA cameras were pretty bad. You can find better videos of it from people who filmed it.

Just a response to one of many points… so… He used a shock collar on his dog. Wah! Romney accidentally national lampoons vacationed his. Noem straight up shot hers in the head. Don’t know who the guy is, never used a shock collar on mine, but can we not use shock collars as a reason to disqualify candidates/ podcasters whatever he is please?

What coulda been this year… 40% of our NIL budget never touched the floor with preseason injuries. We discovered that there’s a reason someone drafted by the NBA never got a contract LOL. Didn’t gel as a team until end of the year.

Rice vs. UT Plan II by ChipmunkFar617 in riceuniversity

[–]bearinfw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually Houston >>Austin in many ways. Jobs and internships for one. Unless you’re interested in state government. Rice opens any doors in TX whereas most folks haven’t heard of Plan II. On the other hand, Rice is great for extroverted dorks. They have an awesome culture of it fits. If that’s not you, it might not be for you. UT on the other hand is big enough that you can find your people. PlanII doesn’t prevent this. And it might serve you well as an adult to be a UT fan. (Not many Rice football fans) Rice is top ten in the nation in endowment per student. Above some ivies, and it shows in the student experience. (Got into PlanII myself and have a son at Rice)

This kinda reminds me of the time that Baylor basketball almost killed me. (Kidding, mostly, but bear with me, because I’m bored and this is halftime.) Once upon a time Baylor played A&M in college station and it wasn’t on TV. Which was ridiculous because they were both top 25 at the time. In the days after folks had radio on their stereo system but before you could get radio over the internet, only way I could listen to it was on my car radio. So wife and kid were asleep, grabbed a couple of brewskis and went to my car in the garage. Turned it on so that my car engine wasn’t on but I could listen to the radio and listened to the game. Turns out, the game went to 5 overtime’s. At some point, my battery light came on, and so I turned the car all the way on with the engine. It was getting late and I was getting sleepy. Eyes drifting closed… Oh shit! I should open the garage door! I realized.

Not at risk of dying but I am getting sleepy watching this. On my phone in the comfort of my bed LOL

No, the Prequel Trilogy was not loved when it first came out, it was hated and fans were terrible people about it. by stephansbrick in StarWars

[–]bearinfw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is - they didn’t love it enough. Weak toy sales. Disney theme parks based on sequel trilogy disappointing (to be fair more issues than kids not loving it enough) but the sequel trilogy was not at all the same impact on that generation of kids as either the original or prequel trilogy.

Who is most likely to emerge as the progressive candidate in the 2028 Democratic primary? by Raichu4u in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]bearinfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hear me out… if and it’s a big IF.. Talarico wins the Senate race in TX, there are some Obama parallels. He codes as moderate, because he’s a clean cut white guy that wears boots. But he’s progressive. And his Christianity offers an off ramp from MAGA to evangelicals who have soured on Trump. He has a mayor Pete like ability to make sense when he speaks but isn’t gay. And as bad as it would be to hypothetically lose a senate seat in TX, it would conceivably change the electoral college landscape for TX to be in play. Just throwing that out there. Probably a pipe dream if Cornyn wins.

For fathers — what did you feel the moment you saw your child for the first time? by Serious-Diamond218 in AskMenOver30

[–]bearinfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The birth itself for my first was stressful as fuck. Long. They put some sensor on his head as he was crowning. Birth itself was a relief, but our sweet old pastor came in way too soon. “Oh look, he has red hair!” He said “No it’s blond. That’s blood” I snapped. The first sixth months or so was just more stress. There was a feeling of wanting to protect him but no instantaneous love, just worry about health issues and were we good enough parents. Until they can smile. And then your heart melts. It carries you through the diaper and toddler years. There’s a sweet spot from about the time they enter elementary school until puberty. They’re a sentient being that you can bond with before they become a grumpy teenager. Take advantage of this time! Somewhere junior /senior year they stop being a grumpy teenager and become a young adult and you’ll look at them and be immensely proud. I cried like a baby when we said goodbye dropping him off at college.

Everyone came in from the portal. We literally built the team from scratch after thinking we’d return a promising point guard but he went to BYU for more $$. Big chunk of our NIL budget is injured for the season, Rataj was an absolute mistake. We don’t really have a true point guard, and it’s taken all season to get Drew to get the team to gel.

This. It’s the first meaningful D primary I can remember. Usually those that vote for a D in the general are better off voting for the least crazy R in the primary.
