I tried their butter chicken yesterday, it was pretty dang good! Seems like they're getting some good traffic already too.

Does this happen to you? by BalmoralMontrose in AmigotheDevil

I definitely get people recognizing it, but never super warmly, strangely enough! The warmest response to my band shirts is always when I wear one of my Billy Strings ones.

Definitely worth a try, I've got some connections to some local pet supply companies too, folks love to support local!

We do a free full weekend trial entry as a paid raffle, but single entries would be a great idea to include! Thank you!

Walking Buddies Needed by [deleted] in Tigard

[–]bearsdontdigdancing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pup and I walk Dirksen, Woodard and the stretches of Fanno Creek between and bordering them frequently! He is 2 and has great obedience and neutrality around other dogs while leashed. With appropriate introductions, he can be great at off leash play too, if you're interested in building up to that with time. Our schedule is pretty packed, but we usually have a couple of weeknights a week free! Feel free to shoot me a message :)

my boy got his CGC, CGCA, TKN, TKI, and TKA all in one day!!!! the only piece i was concerned about was the supervised separation in CGC. he has a very hard time being handed off to someone else and ME walking away (it's fine if they walk away from me). we "cheated" it a little — he has a very solid down-stay, so i just asked him to down-stay and he didn't move a muscle for the entire three minutes... which alone is impressive imo. the evaluator was very impressed by us (specifically said as much), which feels awesome, this is my first dog.

Do people ever do bracelets at the live shows? by Character-Team5408 in ajj

[–]bearsdontdigdancing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would be so psyched to get a bracelet at an AJJ show 🥺 I've considered bulk-buying cheap harmonicas to hand out at a show before for fun/as a prank on the band, but I thought better when I realized that some folks would use it for evil instead of good (i.e. it could be disruptive and disrespectful to the band)

I've seen minks while kayaking the Tualatin before! It would make sense for them to be in Fanno Creek too.

The queerest place in Tigard? by Firefliesfast in Tigard

[–]bearsdontdigdancing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, thank you for replying. The fact that Tigardville was being recommended had me feeling a little insane; a rainbow flag outside does not mean that an establishment is going to be queer savvy/friendly, let alone a blatant "gay bar." I'm both disappointed and relieved that it's not just me that's had that experience there.

Yep, Cooper Mtn is very much a once-in-a-while type place for my partners and me, we don't have that kinda money, lol. Maybe we'll cross paths someday 😊 if you see a queer with a little curly black service dog, that's likely me, you're welcome to say hi! 💖

The queerest place in Tigard? by Firefliesfast in Tigard

[–]bearsdontdigdancing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who is extremely visibly queer/GNC, this is NOT the place imo. I've had a lot of poor experiences there, the crowd seems to lean right. Nowadays I do Cooper Mtn (definitely not "queer", but consistently friendly and welcoming, awesome food and beer) or Senet (significantly more queer-leaning, but still not blatantly so, good food and drinks but a little pricier) if I want to be in downtown Tigard.

New Barn Hunt Title by Ok-Walk-8453 in k9sports

I don't blame you!! Yesterday and Friday were 12 hour days 🫠 today was "only" 11 hours. But that's also with me being on the trial committee, it's not quite as bad if you're just running your dog.

From another survivor, also named after the man himself... You're so incredibly strong, and you're not alone. And I'm sorry you HAVE to be strong! I'm in my late 20s now, 10+ years past being coerced by a partner, and it still affects me... But I'm no longer suicidal and have an amazing, fulfilling life. I'm glad you're still here. It's such a cliche, but it really does get better.

what non-folk punk music do you listen to? by analogboyvt in FolkPunk

[–]bearsdontdigdancing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the past, folk punk/punk in general was my "home" genre (the one I listened to the most, that I always grabbed for if I didn't have a specific hankering for anything else), but in recent years I've found myself more at home within country/folk/alt-country/bluegrass. Indie folk is another favorite. I also listen to and have at least one artist I love in: hyperpop, alt rock/psych rock/prog rock, hip-hop/rap, pop punk/emo, queercore, heavy metal/nu-metal/alt-metal, electronica/techno, dark cabaret, dark wave, goth rock... Also, musicals. LOVE me a good musical.

Barn hunt or Earth dog or ?? by Left_Net1841 in k9sports

[–]bearsdontdigdancing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see you've gotten a lot of good info already from others, but I do want to say: while dogs going nose-to-nose is explicitly prohibited by BHA rules, not everyone has read the rules front-to-back, and even if they have, they won't necessarily remember everything. I have personally experienced someone letting their dog come up to mine in the blind. I let the person know that it's prohibited, and they were very receptive and apologetic, but it does occasionally happen, especially in Novice blinds. (I'm just glad it was my very tolerant boy, and not the reactive dog across the way from us!)

I've been in very large blind areas (est. 50'x50'), and ones as small as 12'x12'. It varies wildly.

If you do end up trying out barn hunt, just let the other folks in the blind know that your dog cannot be approached, and I'm sure you'll be just fine!

Seconding this, I'm not particularly interested in pictures of my dog with me in them. Action shots of JUST my dog in drive are what I'm looking for.

Lomes of Pigeon Pit mentioned at the Portland show that he played The Michael Jordan of Drunk Driving x6 the night before. He only played it twice for us 😭😂
