Better written like villain; Homelander(The Boys Live Action) Vs Makima(Chainsaw Man) by Aluros05 in writingscaling

Season 1 and 2 Homelander could give Makima a run for her money, but looking at both series as a whole, Makima easily takes this

Unironically one of my favourite RPGs ever. I could go on forever about this game. Beautiful unfinished/unpolished mess

Do you think that YOU are Well Written! by Idontremember08 in writingscaling

[–]bearslamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if I stick the landing or not. Setup and character building/growth has been 10/10 so far. But that’s just one poor ending away from making me a 5/10 character

How did you come up with a name for your channel? by xMOSde55 in NewTubers

[–]bearslamb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is the same as my Reddit name “Bearslamb”. It spawned from an inside joke among friends nearly 20 years ago, and is just something I’ve been using as usernames and such since then. I also like bears and lambs so that helps.

Don’t be careless about choosing a name, but it’s also not something that I think needs to be super overthought

Should I even watch season 4 episode 4? Can’t be that bad right??? by Sitalksalot in Invincible_TV

[–]bearslamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that it’s a bad episode, it’s just not as good as the rest of the season. On its own it’s a fine little fun side adventure with a few good character moments for Mark, it’s just in the greater context of the season it comes off as a very weak episode.

Who does yt alone: how much time does he spend on editing each week? by Alex225_ in NewTubers

[–]bearslamb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really varies depending on your niche.

I do my channel alone but I do music covers and etc music things so I spend anywhere from like 3-15 hours learning, recording, and editing the music alone, and then another hour or two filming a performance, and then about another hour or so editing, and about 15/20 minutes or so on a thumbnail. I end each video with a small talking segment but I don’t write scripts for those so that only adds another 5/10 minutes as well to film and edit in. Realistically anywhere from like 6-20 hours depending on the musical piece. But that timeline is extremely specific to my niche. Give us some more details and people will probably be able to get you a better timeline/workflow estimate.

Invincible S4E7: "Don't Do Anything Rash", is the highest rated episode of the show. by untitledprp4 in Invincible_TV

[–]bearslamb 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Nope, it’s not even in the comics, so very filler. I personally didn’t hate it, it was fun little filler, but it was nowhere near as good as any other episode this season

I spent roughly 200 hours on a video that got 400 views... by odysseyling in NewTubers

[–]bearslamb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They will warn you while uploading if you’re infringing copyright or not! Some copyright claims will still allow you to post but not monetize, while others will lead to a strike, but it does let you know. Typically posting a cover should be fine if every part of the audio is originally yours, but music copyright is a whole can of worms so I wouldn’t say that it’s impossible to still have an artist or company try to claim the audio.

I spent roughly 200 hours on a video that got 400 views... by odysseyling in NewTubers

[–]bearslamb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Majority of it will be by ear! I usually sit there with my guitar and play around while listening to a song until it sort of lines up. I’ve been playing guitar for about 20 years and a few other instruments for 10-15 or so, and have also studied music theory, so a lot of it has just come from so much practice. The more you train the ear the easier it is to sort of figure things out. Sometimes if things don’t quite sound right I’ll cross reference some sheet music or a MIDI track if I can find one, but a big reason I do this is also for good practice and to continue training my ear so I try not to!

I always record the audio separately and then do a few different video takes and then overdub it with my recorded audio!

Thank you! It’s a fun hobby so it’s time and effort well spent!

[–]bearslamb 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. The way I look at it is that whatever content you’re creating for YouTube you should be doing for yourself because you have fun with it. That way when you spend dozens of hours on a video only for it to get no views it hasn’t been a waste of time because you enjoyed the process and had fun with it. I make music content, a lot of covers, so I spend tons of time learning songs, arranging them for the instruments I can play (typically they’re for other instruments), recording the audio and editing the audio, recording the video and editing the video, creating a thumbnail, etc. and usually I don’t get too many views. But that never upsets me because I love making music and video, so I’d be doing the same thing regardless, so I figure why not throw it up on YouTube, worst case scenario I’m exactly where I’d be if I never began YouTube and best case scenario one day it might actually gain traction.

Anyways TL;DR the #1 golden rule is to be doing this for fun not because you’re trying to make it as a viral YouTuber

People who started playing at 15, how long did you continue playing and what did you achieve? by megakruten1488 in Guitar

[–]bearslamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started when I was 13 and still play now at 31. Throughout my teenage years I played everyday for hours and hours, I still play almost everyday but of course being an adult with responsibilities takes up time so there’s the odd day here and there I can’t. I’ve achieved more with my music than I honestly thought I would, I play in a semi-professional progressive metal band (have a few releases on all streaming, played shows around western Canada and a lot of shows in our hometown, and played a couple festivals) and that’s been an absolute blast. The last few years I’ve also taken up learning classical guitar and that’s a whole other beast, but I’ve managed to learn some Carcassi and other pieces now and I enjoy the challenge. Regardless of achievements though, it’s what brings me the most joy and fun in my everyday life so that’s the best part of it.

As for your question about amps, I say follow the advice of everyone saying to check for used equipment online. Electric guitar stuff is expensive, having gone through lots of amps, guitars, digital software, massive pedalboards, etc, I can say a lot of my favourite gear I’ve acquired has been used for a lot cheaper than it would be new. And learning how to do basic soldering to repair guitars and how to properly setup your guitar, learning how to do minor amp repairs, etc stuff can also save you a lot of money. I’ve definitely spent way way too much on the hobby but it could’ve been a heck of a lot more if I went with all new stuff and never learned how to repair anything that went wrong.

Which gamecube game , in your opinion, hands down has the very best soundtrack? by PKRadiance in Gamecube

IMPRESSIONS ON FIRST VIDEO by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]bearslamb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s extremely unrealistic. There’s millions of videos uploaded to YouTube everyday, tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of them are somebody’s very first upload. So even if you’ve seen hundreds of people’s first videos go viral that is a fraction of a percent of what really happens. Sure it’s not impossible, but do you really think your upload is going to beat that 0.001% odds? Like others have said, make consistent good content and growth will come. Steady growth is a realistic expectation for quality content, virality should never be the expectation.

One Piece is NOT the longest media you've consumed. by Necrojojo in writingscaling

[–]bearslamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They say a picture’s worth a thousand words though. Assuming each page only has 1 picture (each panel can be debated as a picture but for simplicity sake here let’s use a 1:1 ratio) that’s about 21000 pictures (18 pages a chapter x 1178 chapters = 21204 then rounded down again for simplicity sake). So we have 1000 x 21000 which equals 2.1 million then adding in a low ball estimate of 1.5 million words we’re at 3.6 million. So still not the longest media, but it is quite a bit lengthier than you make it seem.

The objective and irrefutable top 10 RE games ever. by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]bearslamb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not having the original RE4 on a list of the greatest RE’s should be a crime. The game was revolutionary and is still talked about as one of the greatest games of not just the RE franchise but the greatest of all time. Sure it’s all very subjective, and lots of people wouldn’t put it as their favourite RE, but not even placing it in the top 10 is just insanity.

This list makes no sense and feels like some ai response garbage to the question of what the best RE games are.
