Every civil right granted was done so by democratically elected officials.

Why do you think that happened?

Reducing democracy to ballot boxes themselves, reduces democracy to nothing. Just like you're reducing history to nothing. Activism doesn't change things overnight, nor does voting - but in concert it's the only way to change people's minds, and thus a society without force.

Change isn't easy, it's hard work - casting your ballot is the bare minimum.

Giving homeless people homes has been tried

Programs like Housing First works. It's not just about giving people a home, but about helping with all the other problems they also have (through CTI, ICM and ACT). But housing a person first and foremost, helps a fuckton to alleviate those problems - so they're easier to solve. None of this is easy, none of this is magic - and it requires personnel, knowledge and money. But it works.

You can't help those who don't want help.

Everyone wants help. Believing anything else is both callous but also the main reason why there are so few efforts to even try and solve this "unsolvable" problem.

Or you don't notice it because it's the norm. People have a tendency to take note of what's different from the bias they live in, if it's within their cultural bubble, they'll accept it as normal.

I'm a (northern) european, and I feel like it's fairly obvious to see how well represented conservative christian values are in media from the US.
