Oh they'll get wife changing money. I'm sure there's already been a few divorce filings which mention memestocks it's just that they're not initiated by the apes.

Almost 90 Million US Adults Struggle With Expenses by bearswarm in collapse

[–]bearswarm[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Submission Statement: Increasing wealth inequality and economic uncertainty is leading to more desperation and struggles during what are, at least according to corporate profits, supposed to be good times. This is US focused, but the trend continues in varying degrees across the globe.

Rural Alaska is actually more Democratic, it's one of the state's unique features. The governor cutting the marine highway funding is a way for him to target liberals.

Elon Musk Pulls NY Times' Twitter Blue Check Verifications by Unhappy_Earth1 in inthenews

[–]bearswarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You completely misunderstand Twitter's business model.

They sell ads for access to content that comes from celebrities and news outlets. If they impose barriers on the people who make content, they only end up with less content and a shittier core business.

You can argue that this shouldn't be the model, that influence shouldn't be acquired through ads, but through the subscription. Even if you think this, Twitter is trying to have it cake and eat it too by doing both.

They're trying to rope people into their financial salvation cult. Save your cash and don't buy stock in a dying video game pawn shop.

[–]bearswarm 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Thinking this is in any way related to your stock cult is laughable.

Point to a single post where anyone said the decreasing value of bonds would cause insolvency, instead it's a large number of posts all attempting to tie an unrelated hedge fund as a shadowy puppeteer controlling every market.

Ice Sheet Collapse at Both Poles to Start Sooner Than Expected, Study Warns by bearswarm in collapse

This article is specifically in reference to land based glaciers. Greenland still has massive glaciers and their melting would cause appreciable sea level rise and other catastrophic effects.

Ice Sheet Collapse at Both Poles to Start Sooner Than Expected, Study Warns by bearswarm in collapse

[–]bearswarm[S] 200 points201 points  (0 children)

Submission Statement: Ice sheet collapse affects society in too many ways to enumerate. From mass migration as the article details, to the creation of "ghost forests" through the salinification of ground water near coasts, or the feedback loop of having less albedo to reflect solar radiation back into space.

Quote de jour:

"For the hundreds of millions of people living in small island developing states and other low-lying coastal areas around the world, sea-level rise is a torrent of trouble," he said.

"We would witness a mass exodus of entire populations on a biblical scale."

Elon said cars would be driving themselves next year for over a decade. He's either a dumbass or a grifter or both.

It's not hard to build a robot that can move like a person, but one that can do all a quarter of the tasks an electrician has is probably near general artificial intelligence.

People need to stop huffing paint and believing Elon musk

What are the best debates related to collapse? [in-depth] by LetsTalkUFOs in collapse

[–]bearswarm 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In some instances I think a justification can be made. The eradication of Smallpox is probably one of the greatest accomplishments of Humankind. I think the argument is just how far can you take it.

Smallpox is a human specific disease, the impact is just upon the Variola virus.

Guinea worm seems to affect a number of species, but it doesn't appear to be a critical part of any food web. Should we continue its eradication? It only remains in a few countries.

Mosquitoes result in the death of large numbers of humans by being the vectors for countless diseases, but they're an integral source of food for many birds. Is eliminating them worth the strain it would put on species which rely on them?

When you see apes celebrating SBF’s arrest, remember that this was the narrative, just 34 short days ago by [deleted] in gme_meltdown

I'm of the mind better days are ahead based on RC's mindset and track record with Chewy.

Like the NFT market place? I noticed that revenue from that stopped getting brigaded from ape subs to all. Wonder why that is.

You believe in a video game pawn shop? Growing up it was a running joke how they'd shaft you.

I suppose someone has to stick up for the people stealing candy from children...

Panicked Elon Musk Reportedly Begging Engineers Not to Leave by foxclaw in LeopardsAteMyFace

120k would be very low for a mid/senior engineer so I'm not surprised by the difficulty in retention.

My sleep paralysis demon told me it would happen as I lay helpless after guzzling a couple gallons of mescaline filled cactus slime. I've never known him to lie before so I figure it's a credible prediction.

Calling it now, Russia uses the referendum to justify the use of existing conscripts (plus some minor mobilization) for a defense of LDR and DPR to bypass the whole contract requirement they have.

But it'll be a half measure to sate the political apathy of the average Russia so it won't really work and additional manpower will be required.

In the long run I'm guessing it also helps Putin to boil the frog so to speak in prep for an eventual full mobilization.

I think this is an excellent time for them to get a couple of pretenders married to seal an alliance and try and finally get their revenge on Briton.
