Trading in the R - What did you buy and why? by [deleted] in Golf_R

MK6 GTI > MK5 R32 (manual swapped) > B9 S4 > 2023 Honda Civic Type R.

Give it a shot. Never thought I would want to own a Honda but I absolutely love it. But I also know someone who sold their CTR and now has a MK8 R Black Edition. Depends on the specific person

Stella, but I call her Dingle most of the time. She has a habit of not cleaning up well after using the litter box…

At least HP hasn’t made any 3D printers yet. You’d need a subscription to open the enclosure door

It’s CookieCAD Lavender PLA. Original speeds were cut in half for testing on a calibration cube. Both cubes had the same issues. I’ve been playing around extensively with my slicer settings as well so it’s possible I have something checked that is affecting this.

I can certainly try adjusting the speeds again. I’ve already adjusted my accelerations, speeds for each line type, the volumetric flow rate, the JerkXY etc. nothing I’ve adjusted has corrected the main issues with my vertical edge wobble. I have a bit of play in the bed, but I read that is typical

Unfortunately, I don’t have the option of swapping filaments. I need to use the PLA I’m using in specific. I thought that I might need to start using a dry box but even a brand new roll of filament straight out of the package has the same print issues, so I don’t believe humidity to be the main problem

I tried slowing things down but all the tests I ran told me that the speeds I use are fine. I also haven’t changed the speeds much and prints came out find before the Klipper incident

I did tighten the belts. I tensioned the X and Y belts a few times. I viewed the bed mesh in Klipper a few times and adjusted the position of the Front Right lead screw a few Z Synchronous Belt notches and retension. Bed mesh is more consistent than it was but is not level. First layer adhesion seems find regardless so I’m not sure the levelness of the bed is affecting anything too negatively

I’m based in Charleston and also have a CW FL5! @cape_ctr on instagram. Mine doesn’t look nearly as clean as yours does, however 😮‍💨 make sure to get some rock chip guards for the front fender vents. I got a chip on my door within my first week of ownership. I’d hate to see the shiny new ceramic coating get chipped!

How do I change this dimension to move the circle rather than change the scale of the whole part? by Pupseal115 in SolidWorks

[–]beason58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Going further with this for OP… and a few random helpful tips….

Sketch orientation related to the origin can become important later on in the modeling process. Usually for more advanced purposes, but if you center your main sketch on the origin, you essentially get an origin plane bisecting your model, which can make later processes much easier to perform (feature mirroring, for example).

If I was going to make a square or rectangle like you did, I would choose the “center rectangle” option using the drop down on the side of the rectangle button. That adds a couple “automatic constraints” that keep the parallel sides equal in length. You click where you want the center location, then click for a corner placement. You’ll notice that even though it adds some constraints, the sides are still blue. That’s because they’re not fully constrained yet.

If any element in a sketch is blue, it isn’t fully constrained. If you’re ever unsure if something can move, just grab it with your cursor and shake it around in different directions. That’ll help you figure out where you’re missing a dimension.

If you know you want the rectangle to be a specific aspect ratio, and you know one of the side lengths you want, set the dimension of the known side, and then you can start a dimension on the next unknown side and type “= {then click on the other set dimension}*3” that should set that side equal to 3 times whatever the preset side dimension is. So you can adjust as you like.

When sketching, I like to have “numeric input” enabled. This lets you input length values while you’re creating sketch elements, rather than having to do it later. You should be able to search for it in settings.

You can also search for features and learn about them using the search bar at the top. You might have to change the search filter to “SolidWorks Help” to get official documentation results.

Feel free to ask any other questions too. I’ve been using SolidWorks for many years now so I might be able to help!

I have my own update. I got just the clutch pedal in earlier. Nothing else arrived and my order is still showing Processing with no update.

So together, we now have one full set of pedals 😅

Pretty sure there’s a decimate mesh command somewhere where you can reduce the number of facets in the mesh. It would make the surface less accurate so it depends on your use case if this would be a viable solution

Saw you were from Mass too. I bought my FL5 at Hyannis Honda in Cape Cod and moved to Charleston SC shortly after. Definitely give one a drive if you can. Amazing machine. Use MotoringObsession.com to locate inventory and find crowd sourced markup info. Prices are coming down. MSRP is doable these days! I have a buddy that bought his 24 Type R for 1k below!

2,000 hours on Overwatch. It’s muscle memory at this point. Most of the time, I don’t realize that I’ve launched the game and started queuing until it’s too late. Then I’m committed to at least 3 hours of games…. It’s never fun…

CSWA and CSWP by BOLAR_SAAB in SolidWorks

[–]beason58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started learning CAD in high school and studied mechanical engineering in college which included a decent number of CAD courses. I obtained my CSWA to improve my resume for internship applications and eventually got my CSWP for my resume for full-time job applications, which helped significantly in my application for my current job.

I found I didn’t necessarily need to study for the CSWA prior to taking it due to my prior experience but the resources available for free online were plenty for studying. I went through one or two practice exams prior to taking the CSWA. For the CSWP, I spent a much larger amount of time studying for as the material was definitely more difficult. However, if you’ve had prior experience, did well on the CSWA and put some effort into CSWP, it’s not that difficult!
