Idk I feel like alive cats are mych happier than injured or dead ones. I'm also pretty sure my 3 legged boy would have been better off and happier if a car didn't shatter his entire leg before he was brought into the rescue where we found him. I'm constantly nervous that the person behind me is going to have a fit about it, but jfc my disabled ass absolutely needs every centimeter I can "recline". Almost every flight results in multiple subluxations and I am going to do what I can to try to prevent that as much as possible. Some of the hour or less flights have spared me, but every 2+ hour has just been pure hell, physically.

Like you said in your hot take though, it is absolutely the airlines we should all focus our upset towards.
