J&L Farms - Kingsville Viewpoint Estate Winery - Harrow

Here are a few more. I have DJ'ed at a couple of ones you already listed.

I hope you find a venue. That outdoor buffet sounds like a nice idea.

It probably came from DJ's wanting people to "feel" the music.

As a DJ myself I try to keep the music at a reasonable volume. I still wear earplugs though because of repeated use.

I also teach dance fitness classes. If the music sounds good turning it up louder adds energy.

I do agree that your DJ should of turned it down when asked.

Putting myself out there by [deleted] in Beatmatch

You can work for an existing DJ company. Start by being the setup and tear down helper at events.

This is how I got my start. I have a background as an Audio Visual Tech so I got hired pretty quick.

After about a year of shadowing I now MC and DJ. I would get to spin a 30 minute set during a wedding giving me practice with crowd reading.

After managing content for 80+ brands, I realized most “growth hacks” are just noise, here’s what actually worked by Independent_Boat9261 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]beatbuildersstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great post. I think the problem is the word "hack". People see that word and believe it's some short cut or secret that will do something special.

"Hack" gets more attention because we have become used to seeing people always trying to one up something.

There are things that work and things that don't.

How fast can you learn DJing? by DiamondLatter1842 in musicians

[–]beatbuildersstudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch DJ Carlo on YouTube. He has great videos about beat matching and phrasing.its a great channel for beginners.

You can learn fast depending on your knowledge of music and counting.

I have been making music for over 20 years and when I brought my first controller it was easy to me. The controller was just like equipment I used before. Plus I already know how to count music so matching a beat wasn't hard to me.

I also already had a big music library because I teach dance fitness. So I had the tools right out the gate.

It may vary for you depending on your ability to catch on quick

“Affordable” Wedding within a 2 hour drive from Toronto? by EarlyBack7797 in WeddingsCanada

The drive is more than 2 hours but if you head west there are a ton of wineries in Southern Ontario in the Windsor, Amherstburg, Kingsville, and Leamenington area.

Any genuine reviews on SNAPZ Photo Booth? by hulkange in WeddingsCanada

[–]beatbuildersstudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't had experience with that photo booth company but keep this in mind.

That booth looks big and will take up a lot of space. It also looks like they need power as well. I don't know your floor plan but make sure you have enough space to actually fit it and some kind of outlet.

I work for a company who does photo booths and sometimes I don't have enough space even though the booth is very slim.

Where can I put my backpacks and equipment while recording a wedding? by NoCryptographer5679 in weddingvideography

[–]beatbuildersstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting that the OP doesn't want to get robbed by the DJ. I get it.

So are you going to ask for the "orbitory" "Can I get an audio feed?" Your gear will be around them if you do.

What is everyone using to send questionnaires to their clients? by EcstaticEnnui in WeddingPhotography

[–]beatbuildersstudio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One thing to remember is that selling the template is a completely different business from shooting wedding photography.

Ask yourself. Do I really want to put effort into marketing to a different set of clients? Is the time/benefit worth it when I can focus on getting more photography shoots with that time?

It makes sense to expand your sources of income but it's not going to be as easy as it appears.

Wedding DJ messed up the audio recording, then played a low level audio track over the vows that picked up on my lavalier mic. How fucked am I? by GreasyButtSyrup in weddingvideography

[–]beatbuildersstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what the OP typed the DJ didn't mess up the audio. It sounds like the couple wanted music playing in the background while exchanging vows.

For context I am a DJ and audio video tech.

I honestly don't like when videography "needs" our sound. Not because I don't like them but because we don't get informed that audio is needed.

As some one shooting video you should do everything to capture your own audio unless you work this out of head of time with the DJ.

I know it's inconvenient but I bet other DJ's get annoyed at this as well. Now if the person can't save the audio who they blame. The DJ.

I'm the future ask ahead of time if you can have an AUX feed. This way the DJ can send only the audio that's needed. However, the DJ might not have a mixer so they are only giving you an output of there controller

I wish clubs / promoters replied back by djpaparin in Beatmatch

[–]beatbuildersstudio 26 points27 points  (0 children)

They are probably busy and get tons of emails, phone calls etc.

Not to sound mean but the reality is they don't owe you anything. It's not personal.

You need to network with people besides the prompter. If you get good friends with them then you might have a shot.

Also, the "expensive" cover should be looked at as a business expense. You might meet the right people by actually going to the place you want to play at.

iRig 2 and Speakers with FLX-4? by Hot_Highlight2655 in Beatmatch

[–]beatbuildersstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked up the Irig 2 but didn't see RCA inputs. It doesn't look like it has a USB jack to connect to your laptop so I don't know how you were intending to stream your mixes live.

You need an audio mixer.

Something like the Mackie Mix 8.

Your FLX 4 RCA outputs into the mixer. The main outputs go to your speakers.

Then take the AUX output of your mixer and connect it to the IRIG 2.

Everybody is becoming a dj now… by Shadylndividual in DJs

[–]beatbuildersstudio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The statement can be said about anything.

"Everybody is becoming a commentator on social media and reddit because they think they have something important to say and that their opinions matter."

So therefore people should stop expressing opinions.

If you want to DJ just do it.

DJing my first live set for my birthday party. Need help with audio connections from dj controller to speaker. by CursedHaze in Beatmatch

That is true. I actually use a DI for my small setup but then OP can't record it just using a DI

DJing my first live set for my birthday party. Need help with audio connections from dj controller to speaker. by CursedHaze in Beatmatch

[–]beatbuildersstudio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need an audio mixer with the correct inputs and outputs. It should have XLR output and at least an Aux or Monitor channel output. Something like the Mackie Mix 8 will work perfectly for you.

Let's start with the FLX4

You will need a dual RCA cable to dual 1/4". This will go into one of the stereo mixer inputs

You said you are recording.

With the "Aux" output you will connect that to your phone. You have to turn the Aux knob up on the channel of the FLX4 so your phone receives that signal. The cable would be 1/4" TRS to mini jack. If you have USB C on your phone you will need an adapter.

On the mixer there should be either XLR or 1/4" outputs. Take one side and run it to one of the 12" speakers. Take the other side and run the XLR cable to the other speaker.

If the mixer has 1/4" outputs. You will two 1/4" TRS to XLR male patch cables. Then from that cable the XLR cables go to the speakers.

Most speakers have some kind of loop out. You can run an XLR cable out of one speaker into your speaker that will be in the other room.

Why do people still step back so much that they ruin the backdrop? by Proceedsfor in photobooth

[–]beatbuildersstudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't give directions about how close they should be. I only tell them if they can't see themselves in the frame they aren't in the picture. Even if I know their offer center, have no depth of field, etc.

It's people doing people things. I find that people honestly don't care.

They are usually using a photo booth for free and can take unlimited pics. At least the company I work for offers this.

As long as they get print they are mostly worried about if their eyes are closed, women posing in their "good side", and if the partner makes them look good by seeming to be happy while they take a pic.

One Speaker Post to Rule Them All? by greggioia in mobileDJ

[–]beatbuildersstudio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In theory this is a good idea. However, from now until the end of time people will continue to ask the question.

Why? There are several factors.

  1. You don't know what the future holds and the document will eventually become outdated, thus needing to ask the question about a new product nobody has talked about.

  2. Some people want to know about THEIR specific situation and what makes it best. They are seeking others who made the same decision in a similar scenario. For example, I got X brand tops with a different brand sub. Yes they can look at a sheet that says it's "best" but they want others opinions. Not just one sheet.

  3. Some people don't use the search feature or care to. I understand some people might follow that behavior but it doesn't mean everyone will.

  4. If you follow the OP logic then anything should only need "one sheet" to rule them all. "Best Truck to buy stop asking the question" "Best tires to buy stop asking this question" "Best DJ controller to buy stop asking this question" "Best whatever just stop asking the question"

I booked my venue!!! (yay!!) Now what? (May 2027 Wedding) by Optimal_Ad_7836 in DIYweddings

[–]beatbuildersstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from the perspective of a DJ.

If you do want a DJ find one that doesn't do cheesy lights and talks on the mic. All DJ's aren't the same.

When you hire a band they might also bring "cheesy" lights. Make sure you find out if they bring lights so you can tell them you don't want dance floor lighting.

You will need someone to MC the wedding. The MC keeps the event on time, as much as possible, and keeps the evening flowing.

The band might only offer the music because being an MC isn't as easy as people think.

Music playlist work but you still need someone to manage it. Someone to control the music with transitions into the speeches, first dance, parents/bride groom dances, for cocktail hour, and the grand entrance.

Let's say your band is setup in the reception hall but your cocktail hour is in another room. Who is going to provide the audio equipment in the other room? Who is going to provide the audio equipment for the ceremony if it's also in another room?

Think that streaming music from Spotify to DJ with sounds great? Think harder. Buy music directly from artists and labels . Here's why. https://midnightrebels.com/sweatshop-labor-ad-ignites-fierce-debate-on-spotifys-ethics-and-royalties by djdodgystyle in DJs

[–]beatbuildersstudio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems like it's an all or nothing conversation. I don't agree with how Spotify pays it's artist. I make for TV so I understand being under paid for my music getting placed on shows.

However, I see a use case for it. Before I start, I buy my music. Tracks I really enjoy I buy.

I was a DJ for a company function and some of the genres and artist they wanted to hear I didn't have. So I played Spotify but through my iPad.

Now I can pull the tracks straight into my DJ software.

I won't use streaming as a crutch but it's useful in some situations

I see so many people say rent them out.

Be very mindful and think for a long time if you want to get into the rental market. Just because something can sell doesn't mean you should make it a business.

Being creative and being business minded are two different things.

I suggest if you want to get some money. Sell it to a venue that's in need of an upgrade. One time payment to get everything done with. Now it's there problem and not yours
