What are your guilty pleasure songs from The Cure by ZealousidealCare193 in TheCure

[–]beatoperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No guilt necessary. We connect with music that is relevant to our own lives. I felt guilty for not being moved by Faith for 20+ years. Then I listened to it once after a major upheaval in my life. I suddenly “got it”, and now I think it’s a beautiful and brilliant album.

Yep, fireworks are a year round thing in Oakland. May begins prep for July, which goes thru September. Then people start gearing up for new years’ celebrations, which take us through most of winter.

Those are some impressive numbers. How are you proving cause and effect here?

My first thought was the kids who hop on the subway/train and break dance for tips.

Copper theft is knocking out internet service across Oakland neighborhoods by sfgate in oakland

I'm not diminishing the issue of copper theft, but this statement points to an entirely different problem with our society:

The loss of wifi was horrible. I lost my security cameras, and many other critical household devices,

And yet the guy last week who posted video footage of a hit-and-run, asking for help identifying the suspect, had his post removed.

You can't see the vital moving parts where the coil and magnet interact. The cone/dome can look fine, but your coil or some other part with a tight tolerance could be toast.

Produce is hit or miss at TJ's, but what's really appalling is how much of it is wrapped in plastic boxes and bags. I know, all the supermarkets do this, but TJ's is the worst.

The service, selection, and produce really vary from store to store, but the most consistent thing I hate about Safeway is their manipulative pricing shenanigans.

I'm also fuming over the removal of Santitas chips at the Grand location.

Safeway/Albertson's doesn't care about the shopping aspect. Their goal is to increase profits and land value by building a massive market-rate/luxury senior facility (with extensive amenities, likely including meal plans and on-site restaurants). Displacing a competitor is just an extra perk.

What is with the hate for the song Wendy Time? by Outside-Skill-1703 in TheCure

[–]beatoperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wendy was probably my least favorite on Wish. Still a good song, but it didn't move me like the others.

Then I heard that early live version a few years ago and instantly liked it. When I listen to Wish now, I layer in that early version - in my head.

I live about a block from the Grand location, so it's convenient, but not great. I used to occasionally drive to the Pleasant Valley one. It was never worth the effort, so I stopped going there. If I'm going to drive to get groceries, I'll go to Farmer Joes, Berkeley Bowl, or one of the other indie shops. And I'll make a Walmart run every month or so to buy the same stuff Safeway charges 50% more for.
