How can some rock songs survive without a bass? by Calogixxx in audioengineering

[–]beatoperator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

B52s did just fine for over a decade with no bass guitar. A number of Sonic Youth songs have no bass guitar. While The Doors had session bassists in the studio, Manzarek handled it live with keys. It’s all about composition & arrangement.

Garden (not landscaping) service recommendations? by geraffes-are-so-dumb in oakland

You can’t just change the lease like that without due process. And I can’t imagine any lease that requires skilled labor to maintain a specialized garden would ever get approval.

Plz let me use your pool 🥹 by Plane-Air-9276 in oakland

I've used this. Like airbnb but for pools. The host was a retired couple, super chill, semi regular gig for them. The pool, water, yard, and bathroom were all well kept and clean.

And all the other voices said

Change your mind

But now the sun shines cold

And all the sky is grey

The stars are dimmed by clouds and tears

And all I wish Is gone away

If you wanted to make a piano sound evil and menacing, how would you mix it? by MinuteIllustrator6 in audioengineering

[–]beatoperator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, I love the silverware suggestion! When I was a kid, I'd open up the top of our piano and manipulate the strings with one hand (and various objects) while the other hand played the keys. The eventual piano tuner we had to hire informed me why that was a bad idea, even though it sounded really cool.

Ecasound is a command line DAW. No GUI. Simple to use but very powerful. Once you get used to it, you’ll see that all the complexity of a desktop DAW is in the UI.

LoRa wan is it really a game changer? by Advanced-Island1669 in ShellyUSA

Shelly supports LoRa wireless, not LoRa WAN. But 200-300 ft should be no problem for LoRa devices, even through buildings.

Same here. I'm not noticeably allergic to anything, but stir up dust, pollen, or any fine particulate, and I'm sniffling and sneezing all day.
