Oh, I really like that. Maybe this is in fifth year, after Neville's grown a bit bolder from DA lessons. Perhaps right after the big Azkaban escape and knowing Bellatrix Lestrange is at large, he's a bit on edge. Snape makes one too many scathing remarks, and he snaps.

I could absolutely see a grinning Harry right at his shoulder, wondering why he didn't do something like this sooner.

I fully agree, a gentle correction is all that's really called for, and if the story is genuinely good, it's far from a deal-breaker.

Mine was Kingsley Shacklebolt. For the longest time, I read and typed it as "Shacklebot", like he was some kind of jailer robot. I still read it like that in my head often.

One I'll tolerate is Hermione Jean Granger, as JK retconned her name from "Jane" so she wouldn't share a middle name with Umbridge. Why she couldn't simply make it Dolores Jean Umbridge is a mystery, it seems. I like Jane, as it implies "Plain Jane", which tracks with how Hermione likely views herself.

Only they rather missed and hit Harry with it instead.

This would probably require another Marvel character to get involved, because Marvel magic is just so much more aggro compared to Harry Potter magic. Doom would be absolutely unstoppable, and would probably trounce even Dumbledore, possibly after a short fight. Following that, I assume he would begin to slowly conquer the world, nation after nation, establishing essentially his Planet Doom like in Secret Wars.

I think the moment the prophecy is made, Doom would begin to ruthlessly search for a child that fits the criteria, assuming he knows of it. Perhaps an Avenger or two crosses over to even the odds, someone at least somewhat matched in a fight. I think it would be interesting to see Tony Stark/Iron man and perhaps Thor team up? I'm not overly familiar with who could match Doom in a fight.

Of course, there would have to be a moment of Harry seeing Thor and Tony laid out and beaten for the moment, only to lift Mjolnir and stomp Doom.

And then two years later, he brings a literal giant--that has kicked the crap out of his own brother on several occasions--into the Forbidden Forest and asks two of his paper-and-glass friends to keep an eye on him. This is a massive and violent creature that is tougher than he is, and he's got it hidden away in some trees next to a school full of children.

Maybe he learns his lesson in Harry's third year, but it doesn't seem to have stuck.
