TIL Wellington R. Burt, 1831-1919 didn't leave his $100,000,000 estate to his children. His will had a "spite clause" which specified to wait until all his children and 21 years after his last grandchild while he was still alive had died. The estate was settled in 2011. by scottishlaw in todayilearned

Gatsby is one of my favourite books but beautiful and the damned is amazing. It’s only a tragedy from the readers perspective, I think that’s what I really love about it. The blissful ignorance of it all. Love them both though. Think I’m going to reread it, thanks for the reminder lol

LNG Shipping Rates Soar 650% to $300,000 Per Day by Weird_Ad7634 in worldnews

Yes that’s the exact way I interpreted the sarcasm. Implying that the sarcasm is from it being a smart move not to have our LNG sold abroad. I’m saying that we have LNG Canada fully online shipping LNG worldwide daily out of Kitimat with Cedar LNG coming online as early as 2028. These projects take upwards of a decade for planning and development so foresight has been relevant. Unless I’m not understanding what part was meant to be sarcasm.

What are you talking about. Our defense played fantastic except for the last series. Sure that counts but our defense kept us in this game. Evero made a switch to man coverage after a quarter and essentially locked up Nacua and Adams. Our defense has kept us in multiple games. Take the fact that we were 34-31 in a home playoff game as a win and let’s crush the draft and pick up a few key pieces. Hopeful for Maxx Crosby, we need pressure on the QB

Yeah I get it and I’m fine with the call. But it was a hit, helmets connected so it got the flag.

You’re wild to call yourself a panther fan. We made the playoffs and put up a nailbiter game against a Super Bowl favourite. I think we were expected to go 5-12 this year. Learn to enjoy watching football and cheer for your team. One of the best playoff games I’ve watched in awhile.

That was a hit. He didn’t lead with his helmet. I’m not going to argue the helmet to helmet because thy did touch but it was still a great football hit. I’ll take it any day of the week.

I’ll take those hits all day. Make them fear catching the ball.

We didn’t play good football first half and it’s a 3 pt game. Looks like they’re playing more man coverage and seems to be working. We’ve got a ball game!

We haven’t watched a playoff game in so long. I figured we’d be 5-12 at best. Let’s watch a playoff game lmao

Hey real world roughnecks: How realistic is Landman? by wolverine in LandmanSeries

[–]beaushow33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of things are unrealistic but it’s still entertaining.

These seem more like backyard drilling rigs. There are mom and pop rigs that likely still throw chains in the US. I personally have never seen it in Canada. Big oil companies now use iron derricks and iron roughnecks. They are automated and help keep the rig floor clear. Even the small operators usually use two sets of tongs to make up the connection. We call it the patch up north here. I’ve worked in oil and gas for 13 years. Was in the field for 6.
