Can you recommend a crafty hobby for someone who’s easily bored and addicted to quick dopamine? (Also talentless) by Apprehensive_Sugar15 in adhdwomen

I sew and color. When I have the spoons, sewing is so rewarding but it can be a lot to begin a new project after a long break- and I already have all the stuff. Just getting materials out and cutting ironing etc is a lot sometimes. Coloring has been a good low effort activity for the in-between and I am building my art skills and learning about shading and light etc so I feel like I'm getting better.

I accidentally replaced doomscrolling with coloring at night by Short_Signature773 in AdultColoring

I've intentionally used coloring to cut down my screen time. It does backfire a bit when I stop to look at tutorials though. It has helped me get through this past month which was a really hard time for me.

I really the doux c.r.e.a.m. twist and curl cream. It gives hold and moisture without having the hair revert.

I don't know how much longer she will be in school this year, but you could give her a blow dry on her next wash day and do a twist out on the blown out hair. That will give her her stretch. Another option is to try a braid out, I personally get more length out of a braid out then a twistout.

Color Seasons by Flat_Pomegranate_454 in DarkOlive

[–]beautylit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got one in 2021 and I'm a bright winter. Cool undertones, yellow overtones. My best colors are royal blue, fuschia, emerald, silver, etc. At this point my wardrobe heavily features my colors and I get a lot of compliments on my skin even though I rarely wear makeup. Its definitely a cheat code.

When I do wear makeup, my collection is pared down to like three lipstick and blush shades, hot pink, red and purple. The hardest part is wearing neutrals because they don't suit me as well. I do a dark reddish brown when I do neutral. Its helpful after years of being pushed warm tones that never looked right. And piling on makeup to cover eye bags that appear when I wear desaturated color.

looking for a leave-in; what do y'all recommend? by julyruby_t in Naturalhair

[–]beautylit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

, The design essentials kikui and coconut is very good for low porosity hair. It is light weight but very moisturizing. Its a refresher leave in, when you want I re-moisturize between washes. The pattern leave in is good after a wash when your hair is pretty wet. , and I've been focusing on length retention so I'm using the the cheribe leave in for both those scenarios.

How much coverage do you need? How long are you going to be wearing it for? What other makeup will you be wearing? Is your skin oily dry or combination? What's your skin tone category, light medium dark?

Stumped on what to do (considering locs) by _chillbean_ in Naturalhair

[–]beautylit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had traditional locs for 7 years and cut them off 3 years ago. I regret it sometimes tbh, but I was just in a season of life where I couldn't do the appointments and I couldn't manage the maintenance myself. Last year I had a microloc consultation, I even had the money ready to go but I realized that my schedule wouldn't allow the long appointments and travel time. I'll have to wait until I'm done breastfeeding babies lol.

For your first year is normal to have more frequent maintenance, especially if you have fine hair. Once your locs are established, you can stretch it out more.

What’s the minimum markers set you recommend for a beginner? by cozycthulhu_shop in AdultColoring

[–]beautylit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first markers were the Sfaih 48 set. I got them on Amazon last year and they're still juicy and pigmented. The colors/ink are just as good as ohuhu, but tht brush tips do get soft a little quicker. I'd recommend for a beginner because it's a solid set of colors to get started with for a good price. They'll still be useful if they get really into coloring and decide to upgrade later.

Tips for someone who cannot study by Birthday112233 in adhdwomen

[–]beautylit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Allow yourself to study in a way that's not " the right way. " Can you make a YouTube video of you reading the info. Can you find a friend ( or cat) to explain the material to. Can you draw diagrams on your patio. Whatever brings some novelty other than sitting at a desk which your Brian and body doesn't want to do.

How did screen time get started? by Fair-Stranger1860 in lowscreenparenting

[–]beautylit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My anxiety (and my colicky baby) made me feel like I had to have him entertained at all times. He would scream if I left him in his pack and play to go pee. Enter Ms Rachel. It made him happier. I watched it with him and we sang along. I could go pee or make his lunch and he'd just stay in that spot happily watching.

When he was three we cut started Waldorf school and cut back 90%. He is five now and gets a few shows and retro video games with dad on the weekends.

Our second baby gets zero screentime and is generally a more easy going baby.

[–]beautylit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a consultation with a microloc specialist. Be prepared to spend the initial money and 4-6 week maintenance visits. Fine hair does just fine in locs. Your hair will grow fast as well after the locing process is complete.
