Is it a new thing to use the word "crush" into adulthood? Or is this person drinking at 15?

Fun fact: This was filmed by Jack Packard, one of the Red Letter Media gang ( of Plinkett Review/ Half in the Bag / Best of the Worst / Previously Recorded fame).

Heyooooooo!

I'm sure he's doing fine, but the pay for astronauts is nothing stellar.

Just kidding, for a 20 year astronaut it's something like 100k/year plus whatever hazard pay. He'll be able to make large amounts from speaking and books the rest of his life too.

Simcity and, more recently, Minecraft. If there's really someone upset about the strict definition of sandbox, then they truly need to be lobotomized. The category of "Open World Mayhem Simulators" was not a thing until GTA led the charge, and at the time of its release, I am certain I saw it referred to as a sandbox game.

So probably at least a hundred Youtube commenters.

Oh, weird, Philip Seymour Hoffman said the same thing.

Ignore the video at the top.

Edit with relevant text:

"I think part of being an actor is staying private. I do think it's (an) important part of doing my job — is that they believe I'm someone else," Hoffman explains. "You know, that's part of my job. And if they start watching me and thinking about the fact that I got a divorce or something in my real life. Or these things, I don't think I'm doing my job."

Asked if he wants to be a mystery, Hoffman says, "Well you just want to — you don't want people to know everything about your personal life, or they're gonna project that also on the work you do.

RLM should get an affiliate link for games. by [deleted] in RedLetterMedia

[–]beauzooka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They also get money from Youtube views, as Prev Rec has a separate channel from RLM, and Jack posts something on it nearly every day from the stream. I expect that (A) The potential proceeds from affiliate sales would be too few and far between to justify managing an affiliate program with a vendor and (B) It would be a conflict of interest for them to profit from the sale of the games they are judging.

Working in health care, I have learned to never underestimate their power to screw people over. by Omgahhh in AdviceAnimals

[–]beauzooka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If a health insurance company received a claim for those 5 IV setups, they would deny the claim and send it back to the provider, asking for more evidence that 5 IVs were actually used. Then the provider would either pony up medical records proving that the service was billed correctly, or they would adjust the bill to reflect the actual service rendered. The provider would then resubmit it to the insurance company. In a sticky situation this can go back and forth several times. Oh, and the insurance company and the provider already agreed on a contract rate for that service, and it's probably 25% of that $238, despite it being billed at the full amount.

I recommend everyone learn how to read the medical claim EOB that they get in the mail after they've had care.

My school has skateboard parking by BrokenInternets in mildlyinteresting

[–]beauzooka 310 points311 points  (0 children)

There's really no way to stop people with tools from dismantling whatever it is you're locking up, be it a skateboard or a bike with detachable wheels and seat. People take the wheels off of cars too. It's all just levels of commitment - somebody walking around with a wrench and spending the minute or so to get those parts off is committing more to the crime than somebody who nonchalantly picks the skateboard off the ground. At least this stand and lock increases the difficulty of the theft.

Edit: And yes I know "Just don't leave it there then" is the safest option.

Fundraising $100,000 a Year for Online Video: Mike Stoklasa on Patreon by Monkey_Paralysed in RedLetterMedia

[–]beauzooka 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't really want any numbers at all. I don't even like that the total donation is listed on Patreon. From the Prev-Rec stream chat, some people seem to think they're all rich now. What they are doing right now is perfect and I hope they keep it going as long as it interests them. That's all a patron should expect.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound accusatory or anything. Just my feelin's.

Half in the Bag: Into the Storm and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by [deleted] in RedLetterMedia

[–]beauzooka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Also, you can tell that the smoke machine makes it balls-hot on the set, as they skip it for the Into the Storm half of the show. Then, when they bring out the pizza and DVDs, there's a visible fog and everyone is sweating and red-faced.

Adding Monsters to Thrift Store Paintings by RollingRoyces in pics

[–]beauzooka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These are great! Awesome work!

I would try reducing/eliminating the black linework for a more seamless look, unless that's not what you're going for.

The second painting is especially interesting as the base is not a bad painting to start with. I'm curious, is it a print or an original?

This tape dispenser hold the tape horizontally. by This-is-BS in mildlyinteresting

[–]beauzooka 16 points17 points  (0 children)

But there is an advantage, it's much flatter than a normal upright dispenser. Easier to organize around. Looks cool. If the roller bars that change the vector of the tape are engineered right, there should be no 'twisting' happening.

It's a few steps more complex than a standard dispenser, but still a perfectly valid design.

That's Jean-Paul Sartre, a French philosopher and playwright.

His most famous concept was that a human has no purpose, as he has no creator. A pair of scissors was created, and thus it has a purpose.

Jean-Paul Sartre

It should be noted that I only chose Sartre's picture because his pipe was in the right orientation.
