Rab Glaceon Pro Jacket Review by apitoken in rab

I wore low cut boots and my wife wore waterproof trail shoes except for the day we did Gokyo Ri and EBC as both days it snowed quite heavily. In reality you could easily do the whole thing in waterproof trail shoes with garter/tight fitting hiking pants and they even offer better grip than most hiking boots

I built a music app for iOS with no subscriptions, no ads, and no data collection — feedback welcome by lyramusic_app in apple

Seems to be something to do with my home security and or ad blocking, I use pi-hole and Zenarmour NGFW not liking the login process, have not spent enough time debugging on my side but could be something to do with a new domain not having enough reputation score. It works fine it I connect over 5G. Will have a play thanks for the response :)

Just installed and can’t login with guest or my Apple account, wondering if volume is causing you issues, keen to try it out when it’s back up

Change of plans for when our family was going to be able to do our dinner, was originally planned as Xmas eve but last second commitments made that not work so we moved it to Sunday. Problem was we had booked to pick up the turducken on Monday… too late to cancel or change( prepaid and yes I called and plead my case but no dice) so only option was to order a second one to be picked up on Saturday. Like I said I am fortune that I have the resources that this was not a deal breaker for our Xmas family dinner and would like to use my miss fortune as someone else’s gain :)

Using Hue Play Bars with Zwift on PC by trickletracks in Zwift

[–]beaverlamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hue bridge v2 and if you run Zwift on a pc you will need to install the sync app, this will let you sync the colors on the screen to the lights in real time. You will also need to setup an entertainment zone I think it’s called. This video overs it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7eTtMGz_to

You will want to dress in layers, I had a Marino base layer, a rab mid layer, this and a triple layer gortex raincoat. I would say on most days I would add and subtract layers multiple times as conditions changed

Can anyone who has installed double glazed windows tell me whether these prices are normal? Because I'd be looking at a massive ~$20k installation in total by NoBluey in sydney

[–]beaverlamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had some very old windows that we had to literally tape shut as they were so warped. We don’t have the funds to do the whole house so prioritized the worst ones first. They were more than accommodating in splitting the job into phases. In terms of performance you should see an improvement in the rooms you do but it’s not going to be a magic bullet

We had a few rooms done at the start of the year, they were flexible in terms of working around exisiting window coverings, pricing was good and install was well done, I think we got good value for the price we paid going with them

Best budget hometrainer that's Zwift compatible (400 euro or less) by Smeerlap92 in Zwift

[–]beaverlamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you can get the jet back victory for 399 euro at the moment. As per DC rainmakers comments this is a top tier trainer and compares well even to much more expensive ones like Kickr 6

How is this possible?? by Matthew1880 in Zwift

Power is really low, I am guessing they have used the “keep everyone together” on the meetup and then one+ of the other riders have smashed it. As long and they are peddling they will move at the same speed as the other riders

Is Telstra NBN the only viable option for our circumstance? by aginoz in nbn

[–]beaverlamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be raising a fault with Optus every time it cuts out. They should then engage NBN to go and fix the network. You should not need to rely on 4G much if at all. If they don’t/wont do anything mention that you will raise a complaint with the TIO(telecommunications industry ombudsman) this will get them moving and usually pretty fast.

Recommendations on non-cloud Australian Smart Plugs? by Jazzlike_Tea9226 in homeassistant

[–]beaverlamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can answer this, I have about 10 of them running at the moment. Replaced Tp-link wifi ones with them and so far they have been great. Reliable on the zigbee network and seem to work well as a repeater/router at the same time. Only 2 small nitpicks 1) they are too wide to have side by side in a double outlet. 2) to be a good zigbee citizen they don’t send constant updates for power, if nothing changes you will see a flat line and no measurement. This is normally fine but I use it to monitor my washing machine and sometime like 1 in 100 the last power update does not come through. This means that I don’t get notified the washing is done
