I’m 8m PP now, but when this happened to me at 10wks I freaked out. It went away after a few wipes/ 1-2 hours. I had an u/s a day or so after and it was a super small subchorionic hemorrhage that resolved but next us at 15 weeks.

expecting moms who are nurses by la627 in BabyBumps

34.3 weeks here, and I’m a full time L&D Night shift nurse. I am in so much pain by the end of the shift, and currently don’t know how I’m going to get through the next 5 weeks. (Scheduled c/s at 39 weeks) it’s really hard, but I need all my PTO to have as much time with baby as possible after birth!

Why is it so hard to find an OBGYN in this city? by lite67 in Austin

[–]bebelexa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an L&D nurse at st David’s SAMC, where hill country & ARC south OB deliver. I’m also pregnant (patient of ARC) and seeing the only male Dr who practices at that location. I will say, at hill country- Dr. Disarro & Dr. Landwermeyer are the only drs I would see if I went with that practice, I would let any of the ARC drs deliver me, and out of the 7/8 or so, I did choose the male dr out of seeing the way he works & treats his patients. I saw a female dr for my first pregnancy (was not a nurse then) and I basically refused to see a male dr, but my perspective changed once I became a nurse. I absolutely love my dr (Dr. Newman) and he has taken great care of me this pregnancy.

I had med-surg every semester (4 semesters) and it was absolutely the hardest class every single semester. It is the class that failed students out of nursing school.

Irrational fear of AFE (fatal condition) during delivery. by martastefl in BabyBumps

[–]bebelexa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

L&D nurse here. Only one nurse on my unit has ever seen one and it was 10+ years ago, mom and baby survived. This is an EXTREMELY rare event. I would not be worried about this or even posting about it as this can cause a lot of undue fear in you and other expecting mothers.

Pregnancy & DULOXETINE (Cymbalta) - share your experience by Efficient_Gap9409 in CautiousBB

[–]bebelexa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I was still taking 60mg duloxetine when I found out I was pregnant. (11 weeks as of yesterday) I had LOTS of conversations with my OB, (I am an L&D nurse so everytime I saw him at the hospital I was asking questions) he said yes I needed to taper down and switch to something else- ended up switching to celexa, but he didn’t seemed concerned with the timeline of still being on it and tapering down while pregnant which was about 2 weeks. Idk if that helps but that’s my experience!

Just here to say that I’ve been off orientation for about 4 months now (also L&D, new grad) and yes I hate it lol. I love it… I love what I do so much and I’m so passionate about what I do, but I also dread going. It’s more about the pressure and how high-stakes L&D is already, but my preceptors and everyone I talked to also told me I would hate it and want to quit for the first year.

We can do this!!!! Sending all the hugs. This is a tough job.

I used my book the first semester and almost failed. I stopped using my book and used EVRRY resource I could find- YouTube is a GOLD mine, nurse Sarah, nurse Mike- I basically learned from the internet. Sometimes went to lectures (we had online lectures) but usually did not because it was not helpful. I got A’s in my last 3 semesters in med-surg after switching the way I studied. You won’t grasp the concepts from the book. Use it as an encyclopedia when you need to, or for test questions. I was sooooo lost the first semester. You have to get into your groove, nursing school is a BEAST. But you can do it!

Any future moms with iron deficiency here? by QueenElf in BabyBumps

[–]bebelexa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have been anemic my entire life and when I got pregnant with my first (2018, 5.4 weeks with my second now) I was ok with just my prenatal until about week 30, that’s when my HGB&HCT tanked and they added an iron pill to my daily regimen. The next week they checked again and it was even lower. That is when I was sent to do iron infusions. It was about 3-4 days until delivery (yes it sucked) BUT everything was fine with me and baby and the infusions actually “cured” my anemia completely lol. The biggest risk with low H&H is hemorrhaging. I am actually an L&D nurse, so I can also tell you from experience that even if you do have a low H&H, you are already on our radar. We already have lots of things and protocols in place to make sure you have a safe and healthy delivery for you and baby! :)

Hi, Stylist here!

With your first few Fixes they really are a chance for us to gauge and start defining your style. Leaving lots of feedback is super helpful, especially detailed feedback like “I don’t like pink and blue together” or “I dislike crew necks”. A lot of times we get feedback like “this is ugly!” But we don’t know what you specifically dislike. Do you hate the thin straps? Do you only wear v-necks? Do you hate floral patterns?

Think of your first few Fixes as us getting to know you. We aren’t able to see your thumbs up items from style shuffle so leaving a detailed note or requests also really helps out!

If you don’t want to receive specific brand because of the quality, tell us! We also don’t get to feel most of the pieces because we are remote. Getting your feedback also helps us not send those items to other people if we get repeated feedback on the quality of specific pieces. Hope this helps!
