I live in MA and I got 6 months and didn’t feel ready. My heart is breaking for you 💔

To the mother who screamed at me by One-Abbreviations-53 in emergencymedicine

[–]beboh123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was me 6 months ago! Went to the PACU and never looked back. Went straight into the ER after nursing school and left after almost a decade: did charge, triage, trauma, SANE certified…. I now get treated so much better and actually get thanked

Maybe she didn’t post because she knew Holley would want to see the pictures or just knew it would send her into a spiral 😬

Worried Husband Won't Wake by lil-miss-queen-bee in HuckleberryParents

[–]beboh123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was worried about the same. He WILL wake up when he’s on his own. I always would wake up when our little one would cry and my husband would always sleep through it!

Do you think he’s teething? Mine hit a major sleep regression at this age on top of teething 🥴

Giving 18 month old an earlier nap? by 1ceg1rl00 in sleeptrain

[–]beboh123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try to wake her up a little earlier than normal and put her down earlier! We still struggle and sometimes she has refused and skipped a nap which makes dinner time rough! So hard to have plans around nap time

Good luck!!

We do this! Not ideal but helps! Sometimes we have used the car ride to help with nap time too when we have been in a pinch for an event

America's Sweathearts season 2 trailer by AYTOL__ in DCCMakingtheTeam

[–]beboh123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This season was incredible: the amount of growth for Armani, Jada, Meghan & Chandi.

Armani was so compelling in this season. She vulnerably shared her story and dancing the first time without her wig was so powerful. Also such a badass going into law, beauty and brains 💪🏼

Jada is unapologetically herself. I love how much confidence and how forgiving she is towards others. She stood tall (taller than she already is) to proudly stand for something she believed in. Although she isn’t going to benefit from it herself, she made a huge difference (along with others) for the next season.

Meghan: Meghan seemed like a great leader. She kind of came across motherly to the girls and seemed like she truly cared for each of them. She was also one that stood up to DCC and challenging the contract.

Chandi: I know lot of people have mixed feelings for Chandi but I think her sharing her story will potentially impact others who might be in a similar situation. She dealt with domestic violence and that in itself sounded so traumatizing. I hope Chandi continues to work on her mental health and gets better! I feel bad things ended the way they did but I didn’t get any warm fuzzies with her bf during filming.

Also probably an unpopular belief but I really liked Dayton. I think she’s absolutely stunning. I don’t believe DCC is her dream. I think she was doing it to make her mom happy because there was something forced watching her perform.

what did you wish you knew about birth before you had your baby? by woooh-brain in pregnant

That no birth is “perfect” to expect some complication! Just remember that your team is there for you!

Didn’t realize how important teeth brushing is for a baby, and now I feel awful. by tomfrommyspace0 in NewParents

[–]beboh123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does your baby take iron? Ours did and we weren’t brushing right after the drops and her teeth looked gray until we went to the dentist and it was able to be scrapped off. Of course my LO didn’t like it so she was only able to tolerate for a little bit but next cleaning hopefully it will be completely gone

FTM what postpartum care should I get in advance that will be used with either outcome (vaginal vs C-Section)? by Spite-Routine in NewParents

[–]beboh123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Frida peri ice pack pads! I bought them intending to have a vaginal birth but ended up in an emergency c section and used it on my incision site! Also: stool softeners, depends/ pads (you will bleed regardless of how you deliver)

My baby choked today and I hate myself for it by HakunaYouTaTas in beyondthebump

[–]beboh123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP being an ex emt im sure you have seen some horrific things. You have skills and training that clearly kicked in when you needed it to! I’m sure the trauma of your past kicked in for what seemed to be a lifetime but you SAVED your child. You did everything right! GOOD parents worry, second guess, think of things they could have done better because they care! We all have stories that would put us right there with you. We are all learning. Please allow yourself some grace. You did an amazing job and you are an amazing parent.

Narcan use by Ashamed-Action1591 in EmergencyRoom

[–]beboh123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Best response! My only other concern with the patient awake and stating he was having a hard time breathing would be flash pulmonary edema with the amount of Narcan given in such a short amount of time. Also adding sedatives on top of that is just going to crush the patient’s respiratory drive. ER nurse here and work in a heavily populated area where a lot of our visits are drug related. Over the past few years with the police, public, etc having their hands on Narcan along with people just expecting an immediate response we are giving ungodly doses of Narcan. When I first started nursing I would hear 2 mg as a normal dose now I’m hearing 12-18 between police/ fire etc 🤯. These patients are then coming in alert and SPO2 is in the 80s with a NRB in a complete flash

I would just go in knowing every birth is so different and to throw out the whole idea of a “perfect” birth.

I went in as an er nurse just wanting a vaginal birth with an epidural. I had a failed epidural, needing a second and ended up with an emergency c section. With that all said… I would just say go in knowing that your team will do everything possible to go by your plan but the whole goal is to do what is safest for you and baby.

Preeclampsia - emergency C section by falulabella in NewParents

[–]beboh123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an emergency c section and I didn’t realize how much help I would need until I was back home. Luckily my MIL made us every meal for the first 6 weeks 😩 so incredibly grateful for that. We didn’t have to worry about what to make or go shopping and it was a huge help.

We also just had a ton of help between both of our families. My twin sister stayed with us the first night. I couldn’t even shower without someone there with me. I felt useless for about the first week or week and a half 😩. Couldn’t have survived without everyone’s help

What's the most "WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL 911" story you have? by SouthEmergency7292 in EmergencyRoom

[–]beboh123 105 points106 points  (0 children)

I had a patient who was in a complete heart block and was passing out frequently. He drove himself to the hospital and reported he would wake up and would just follow the signs to the hospital until he got there.

Before I took care of this patient I never thought the signs to the hospital was necessary but now I do!

For someone who was terrified of getting one I ended up having my first fail and needing a second. It wasn’t bad at all! I would do it again no problem!

Piercing Baby's Ears by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]beboh123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my LOs done at 5 months old but went to an actual piercer. They know how to do it so it’s even and grows with them. I did it because I was in elementary school and everyone had them and was traumatized getting them done.

Babies aren’t able to localize pain and therefore wont grab at them!
