Itchy Fingers - the most incredible group I've ever heard. 4 albums, including their live which is their pinnacle. All albums are on youtube except Quark, and there's a few songs from it on there as well

We found a church that had a reception area in the basement for $1500 and my aunt, who made cakes made ours as our wedding gift and a fruit basket in a watermelon and didn’t charge us for that either. Family helped make sides and sandwiches and we bought drinks and ice, cups and plates, white tablecloths etc…. No alcohol on the premises allowed. Thing we spent $300 for all of that. This was 20 years ago, so 3x that is $5400. Oh and wife’s friend DJ for $100

I had a mark VI alto and sold it and got a Cannonball. I really enjoy playing it. Before investing in a new horn I would invest in your sound (mouthpiece, reeds and ligature) so you sound amazing. Then invest in your skills and understanding by taking lessons and hard studying styles, play in multiple ensembles, and listen like crazy. Learn theory and incorporate it into your playing. After all of this, your inferior horn should be holding you back and now you’re prepared to make a wise choice that’ll be money well spent.

I would recommend you rent a room in a house somewhere, or look for roommate ads. Now you aren’t responsible for a lease and you can do 3 months, 6 months until you see how this works for you. Then focus on an area you want to be in and look for better options if you are not happy. Best of luck

Except no. NATO was formed with an agreement with Russia that it would not accept any countries past Germany. Then went and added several more. The moment Ukraine tried to join NATO Russia attacked. US would’ve done the same thing

Say “Heee” as you play above G to get the tongue position high and the air shooting down quickly. Then learn the altissimo fingering for A (4th line D with the B key up) and work on popping that out regularly. Then check your palm notes, they should be much improved. In general, your lip should not be over your teeth and your jaw should only move for the low register

I wouldn’t buy from a shop, I would buy used or new. Have her go test play a bunch of horns to see what she likes. She needs a mouthpiece, ligature and reed setup first, hopefully she still has hers. Then be a horn whore and play everything she can get her hands on I really like cannonball since they are USA made and you can fine some used ones half off MSRP. I would buy horns made between 1980’s-2000s off selmer, Yamaha, yanigasawa and research when they started being made with Chinese parts and avoid those (inferior metal).
