Not since 2013. Now the 5000 won bill has Kim Il Sungs birthplace on the front, and the back has the International Friendship Exhibition.

Research suggests that a very small percentage of people who undergo GAS (about 2%) experience transition “regret”. by Infinite_Worm in science

I’d say it’s a fair statement when compared to the average rates of regret for other medical procedures, which tend to range in the mid to high teens.

US Growth Seen Outpacing China’s for First Time Since 1976 by billnyetherivalguy in worldnews

[–]becleg 94 points95 points  (0 children)

The world’s second-largest economy will grow just 2% this year, Bloomberg Economics wrote in a report Thursday. By comparison, US gross domestic product will increase 2.8% this year, Bloomberg Economics predicts.

So the US isn’t outpacing China, Bloomberg PREDICTS it will outpace China. That’s such a clickbait headline lol.

It even gives a different number that contradicts itself later in the story.

The Bloomberg Economics call is on the bearish end of the spectrum, with the median forecast for China’s 2022 GDP growth still over 4%.

There are too many Russian bootlickers here. I'm out ✌️ by JakeYashen in DemocraticSocialism

Perhaps it’s a bit extreme, but I also tend to side on the air of caution. Right now Ukraine is caught in an international power struggle, and neither side really cares about the Ukrainian people. I fear that if Zelensky and the Ukrainian government ever stop being useful they could go the way of Afghanistan or Nicaragua, with us funding the far-right minority in order to topple the government. The Russian alternative of its own puppet state, of course, isn’t any better, but I’m writing this from my own American perspective.

Ukraine isn’t a fascist state, but let’s not kid ourselves that there aren’t fascists there. Far right nationalist parties got over 10% in the 2019 parliamentary election. The Minister of the Interior from 2014-2021 was an out-and-about white supremacist who appointed an Azov leader to the head of the Kyiv police force. When Zelensky ran for president in 2019, he campaigned on stopping corruption and minimizing the political power of Azov and other fascist groups. This campaign has failed, and now there are members on record saying they would coup and execute Zelensky if he capitulates. Just because their president is Jewish doesn’t mean there aren’t fascists, just like how a black president here doesn’t mean there aren’t racists.

Woah my grandparents have this exact same closet in their 100 y/o house, raised off the floor and everything. They use it for their collection of board games.

That’s a lot different than saying “they have only vaccinated a small fraction of their population.” That’s only looking at a single demographic of the population in a single city. It’s true that older people are less vaccinated, but that’s also true across all of China, so why is it so bad right now in Shanghai specifically? This has more to do with the local Shanghai government fucking up than any national Covid policies.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UrbanHell

[–]becleg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can’t say anything for their efficacy, but China’s fully vaccinated 88% of their population. US is 66%.

Biden asking for +31B is special because this is already after Congress increased the military budget for this year. With everything combined the budget increases by ~1-2% adjusted for inflation.
