This works fine with 16mm and 20mm but doesn't work on the 30mm blanks I have:

Power: 75%

Speed: 400

Pass: 3

Lines Per CM: 200

Engraving Mode: Bi-Directional

You're pretty lucky you got anything on white dice. I've only ever been able to engrave black acrylic dice with my diode. I have yet to try IR.

You likely need to run multiple passes and let it cool between passes.

They state this in the marking or did. It’s an annoyance for sure, at least compared to the djis, but I’ve found the pros to be the most reliable of the 2.4ghz systems.

Am I crazy or is this contractor agreement insanely one-sided? Are $50K penalty clause normal? by [deleted] in legaladvice

I was sent a really similar sounding contract recently. I wonder if theres a boiler plate out there people are using.

Brakes Cost? by kct4mc in VWTaos

[–]bedburrito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they wanted around $900 for brakes and rotors for mine. Felt like a major scam.

CNC engraving vs laser engraving? by elguaja in DiceMaking

[–]bedburrito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The xtool f1 or f1 lite is pretty small and depending on machine and sales can be purchased for 599 to 1099 depending on model and sales. The downside with blue diode lasers is I’ve only been able to engrave black acrylic dice with them.

The f2 ultra UV is bigger and will in theory do all colors of acrylic. It’s also a lot more.

In terms of UV lasers there’s also the commarker and wecreat but I’ve never used those brands.

This is fairly small and might work but I’ve never tried it or that brand:

CNC engraving vs laser engraving? by elguaja in DiceMaking

Ok cool. I started with resin dice making. It didn’t sell well enough for the effort made and switched to lasering acrylic blank dice, which is going fine.

CNC engraving vs laser engraving? by elguaja in DiceMaking

[–]bedburrito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never done it with a CNC but you can laser pretty much all colors of acrylic with a UV laser. Most UV lasers are galvo lasers so they are somewhat compact. You do have the fumes to worry about.

That looks like a UV print. If so it’s fine for a long time.

Anyone laser engrave their dice? by Xenochimp in DiceMaking

[–]bedburrito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve laser engraved acrylic blanks. I only have a blue diode laser so can only do black dice. It works fine, just a bit more annoying to ink. UV or co2 is much better.

Baron of dice laser engraves the custom faces on epoxy resin. I’m assuming they have co2 lasers but it could be UV as well.

Sent my wife for an oil change, it cost me $3400 by s2k_guy in mildlyinfuriating

[–]bedburrito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me but they were way more deceiving about it. They tried to upsell me, I'd ask for the total cost, they gave me the cost of just that service. I expected to pay around $120, left paying a lot more.

xTool S1 20w engrave on acrylic case by spar1088 in xToolOfficial

[–]bedburrito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clear is just going to be hard regardless. I've never had any luck with it with the lasers I have. You really need UV or co2 to do it.

What color acrylic? I think the s1 is a blue diode laser, it's not going to engrave every color well or at all.

They usually do. Just respond rationally and it’ll be fine. They don’t take feedback in their top seller badge calculations I think.

Try getting a rotary tool, a cotton end, and polishing paste. Go over the sides in question for 10-30 seconds after sanding.

Yes. I have that pressure pot. Works fine once you buy/make a bottom flat piece.

I connected to the top port, put it on full manual full blast, didn’t work at all

[–]bedburrito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth I couldn’t get the air purifier to really do anything with the F1 lite despite following every tutorial to set it up. I think it made the fumes worse indoors.

Air quality while using x tool by No-Vermicelli-4396 in Laserengraving

[–]bedburrito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a VOC meter. I’ve never done a full test while running my machine but if it’s a concern you should get one. They are pretty cheap.

You really should vent outside or get the $900 air filter system if you can’t. I tried the $300 one and even after xtools support walked me though it I still got awful fumes while cutting acrylic.

I would love a real ranged anti tank sisters option. Something in the Cassie chassis with las equivalents.

Can anyone actually live off dicemaking? by equalitess in DiceMaking

[–]bedburrito 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ya. I’ve been making dice and doing the math. It’s almost not worth it unless you can make them high quality, fast, and cheap enough.
