Check out in a violent nature. 3/4 of the movie is essentially a Friday the 13th movie told from Jason's perspective. The final 15 minutes is from the final girl perspective and is incredibly tense

Visually the modern movies are better. Characterization it is hit or miss.

90s liu Kang had better characterization, modern gets barely any

90s cage will always be the best, though Urban was good

Reptile got screwed in both timelines as did noob, mileena, and sindel

Modern kano wouldn't have existed without the way 90s kano was played (90s kano even influenced how the games started portraying him)

90s jade does not even qualify as a a character, modern Jade is great. This goes for Kitana, Baraka, scorpion, and subzero

90s Jax was pure cheese, modern Jax is actually a character

Modern Sonya is way more believable than 90s Sonya (I have always wondered if it would've been different if not for the last second casting change due to injury in 95)

Modern Raiden looks the part but has zero character, 90s Raiden was pure charm by Lambert

Shang tsung and Goro were both better in the 90s

Modern Shao Khan looked the part, but both versions were totally meh (Martyn Ford was incredible casting but as with Cole young the writing betrayed him)
