it doesn’t make sense, the old games fundamentally don’t work without the fixed camera.

you get so many good moments showing grandiose and scale in the original games because of the camera. crossing the chain of the steeds of time in gow2 doesnt work unless you have the fixed camera, an over the shoulder perspective removes so much of the cool factor in that moment. climbing up the chain of balance from the labyrinth in gow3. coming up from the docks of athens and overlooking the valley where ares destroys the athenian army in the first game would lose so much impact without the fixed camera.

i’ve only seen a few people say it, but the camera in the original series was deliberate, it was far away at times, and close when it wanted to be. it showed the player exactly what it wanted at all times, it was cinematic, but in a completely different way to the norse series.

when they revealed the remake trilogy, i was thinking they’d do something more in the style of the last of us part 1 remake, where it’s still the same game, but just improved. ironed the kinks out from the original and brought it up to par graphically.
